Okay, this is my ugly. It looks like it's from the mid 60's. I know some will like it, but not me!

cjomomma 01-29-2011 09:15 PM

I love it!

dellareya 01-29-2011 09:19 PM

I believe we should call it "Flower Power".

This is what I did with some ugly fabric that for the life of me I couldn't figure out why I wanted in the first place. Made about a dozen of these reusable shopping bags using that fabric and painter's drop cloth canvas from Harbor Freight. I had a women at the grocery store just the other day practically drooling over them!!

Sadiemae 01-29-2011 09:27 PM

Twisted Quilter, I agree it is ugly. Kind of looks like they couldn't decide what color they wanted.

Jim 01-29-2011 09:29 PM

reminds me of a horrid wallpaper we had eons ago

OK, after DH and DS voting out of 5 really UGLY fabrics, this one came out on top. I took two pics trying to get the color somewhat accurate, one with a flash and one on manual. It is the same fabric! No matter how I set the camera, it is still UGLY!

barking-rabbit 01-29-2011 10:04 PM

Looks like snake skin. You could make turtle heads and legs.

Sadiemae 01-29-2011 10:07 PM

You could be a winner with this one!

Vanuatu Jill 01-29-2011 10:11 PM

I actually bought a couple of yards of it-I must have had rose colored glasses on or something-I can't believe I would actually even pick the bolt up, let alone fork over cash for it!!

gaby4v 01-29-2011 10:18 PM

I like it!!!

No offence, but I agree.

I know what you mean. I ordered some fabric on line that I cannot imagine why I ordered it. Tho' it's not THAT ugly. I stopped ordering late at night! heh heh oh, boy.

Yep, butt ugly, LOL!

But these "muddies" can make other colors more vibrant. Try using them in portions of a block, like this one from the Military Barracks Quilt Project here on the board, shown merely as an example - she didn't use this particular fabric.

Colorful Quilter 01-29-2011 10:36 PM

I also think if you cut it smaller or into strips to use with other fabrics, you might actually like it

Colorful Quilter 01-29-2011 10:39 PM

LOVE the shopping bags, can't believe any of those fabrics were ugly

C.Cal Quilt Girl 01-29-2011 10:47 PM

Wellll not to my taste, could go into a guy, cammo, hunting, sorta Quilt. How big are the squares??

Lorikeet 01-29-2011 10:48 PM

yes! Looks like snake or other reptile skin. I'm actually trying to do a quilt with a fishing/hunting theme and that would work nicely with it....in little pieces!

They are tiny squares-about 7 to the inch-I look at it and I have to blink-makes my eyes go buggy!!

LOL can see why :)

Vanuatu Jill 01-29-2011 10:55 PM

I am sure it has some redeaming features-somewhere-in some quilt-I can also see it as reptile skin-not what I would want in a quilt, though! Yes, it could get lost in a strip/scrappy quilt in small pieces I guess. But it just goes to show any fabric no matter how ugly, has a place in some type of quilt! I think the person who designed this one was an alien on "V"!!

Could be related to some of what I have :)

pojo 01-29-2011 11:28 PM

What are you going to make with it.

It's not my taste either sorry.

I don't have a clue-but if I use it, it will have to either be small bits to get lost among better looking fabrics, or as Barking Rabbit said, use it for snake skin or turtle head/legs-I can't see myself EVER making a quilt with snakes-maybe someday a turtle or two, but with about 2 yards, it is bound to stay in my stash forever! I will probably make a point of using it someplace, now that it reared its ugly head, maybe for vine applique. It can't be that noticable as a vine!

quiltergirl80 01-29-2011 11:50 PM

snakeskin!

Navarre2011 01-30-2011 12:20 AM

Sent a pm...im in for this one!

Sandy-lou 01-30-2011 02:33 AM

I like both of them, and as my nick name from school was flower Power (surname Power)thanks for naming it after me lol

AnnieH 01-30-2011 02:35 AM

It truly is in the eye of the beholder.

Scrap Happy 01-30-2011 02:59 AM

I could see the snake skin fabric being used for a snake & turtle as part of a tropical scene or maybe garden of Eden with beautiful flowers, trees, birds other animals, etc. It would get lost in the beauty.

OK, so now your fabric certainly doesn't look ugly. I really like your bags. Great idea.

Here is my ugly. I know once it is combined with other fabric's it will be beautiful. It was given to me but I had told the gifter that I would take ugly fabric because I can make it beautiful.

I wish the colors would have shown better but this is close.

cjomomma, I hate to say it, but I think I like your piece. I like the color combo. Can't decide if it reminds me of upholstery or drape material from the old days.

Vanuatu Jill...that piece is really awful, but WATCH OUT, NorbanaQuilts is coming!

Here is my ugly fabric. I think I bought it on the internet. I think it was an assorted fat quarter pack. If I remember right, they were all ugly. This reminds me of a 60's tyedye T-shirt.
