I've used brown paper bags with raffia or hemp twine. Puts you in mind of "Little House on the Prairie." Very homey.

I really like that quilt. I remember my friend rolling up a little quilt and tying it with the very wide netting "ribbon." I loved the presentation. Maybe not rustic enough, though. I do the same thing when I give books for gifts.

First brown paper, than new burlap and tie it all in twine.

Really nice quilt. Have you thought of opening brown paper bags and using that for wrapping paper? Some stores will give you a handful of them, if you tell them why.
