I saw the first posting of your Moms quilts, so glad you posted her picture. Beautiful lady. her quilts should be an inspiration to all of us. What I would'nt give to be able to spend another day quilting with my Mom.

Your mom is awesome.. Wish I could get my mom to quilt.. She is 84.. but I guess I shouldn't push her buttons.. She's very independant.. She goes to the gym three times a week, and is always on the go....

Hug for "mom." VWquilting said what I was thinking. How precious - I wish I could have spent time doing things like quilting with my mom! Keep going "mom" and don't be shy - you should show all your stuff - it's fantastic!

Love the photo and am so pleased for her. How wonderful that your post can bring her the recognition and joy she so richly deserves. Her work is fantastic. To be sure she has inspired me....perhaps now I shall have the courage to do some paper piecing too. Thanks so much for sharing. Tell your Mum we will all be looking for what she has on her project list next.

capucine 02-11-2012 08:49 PM

Mama Mac - I love, love, love your work. Show us more. You sure do make gorgeous stuff! And aren't you a little darling? I just want to squeeze you. Natalie, I'm sending Mama kisses on each cheek and a giant quilters hug - will you pass it on for me? You are so lucky to have her.

Homemother 02-12-2012 05:55 AM

I can't believe the eye for color your mom has. I LOVE her work!!! Maybe she could join our community of quilters on the QB. I'd love to have her input!

bjiwami 02-12-2012 06:07 AM

I love that your Mom is so fearless with her fabric choices! Please thank her for the wonderful work she does. I saw your last post with her other quilts, and each one put a big smile on my face and made my heart sing!!! I said it before and I'll say it again..."Your Mom rocks!"

And the pictures show her latest quilt on the way to the LAQ. Some of you are asking for the name of the patterns. She is collecting them and then I'll get back to you.

BTW, I saw how important this discussion board is. Mom was overwhelmed, speechless, and floated upstairs to have a little cry. At 86, quilting is a solitary enjoyment.

I will be more intentional to cheer you on too! Really, really important to keep encouraging each other.

Many thanks again.

Natalie

What a beautiful lady and what wonderful works of art she is producing! I can see in her smile and in her eyes how happy she is with her quilting--she's just glowing. I pray I'm doing as well as your mom when I'm 86.

GingerK 02-12-2012 06:17 AM

Thanks for such inspiration. Natalie's Mom--You Rock!!

Lindsey 02-12-2012 06:32 AM

pastimesquiltdesign 02-12-2012 07:29 AM

I can see she has a lot of spunk left in her by her fabric choice. What an inspiration she is. It's just so nice to have found a place where we can all share, enjoy, applaude, and encourage each other. Keep up the good work Mom.

WOW!!! That is a great pic of your mom and her latest quilt is amazing! I love the fire fabrics!!

Murphy1 02-12-2012 07:34 AM

I commented on her quilts earlier. Your mom has such an eye for color and design. I began quilting 4 years ago in retirement. It is the way to keep your mind sharp and there are so many avenues from piecing to appliqué to the various ways to quilt the finished piece. What a rich rewarding experience you all must be enjoying. I hope you have taken pictures of all her quilts and put them in a journal. It would be wonderful if her thoughts and motivations were recorded for each quilt for others to read, appreciate and enjoy. Thanks so much for sharing your Mom with us and her creative endeavors through quilting.

fixfido 02-12-2012 07:35 AM

Warms my heart! She is talented and happy...and that's all any of us can hope for at any age!

Your mom & her quilts

OMG they are both gorgeous!!! How lucky you are to still have her. Her quilts are an inspiration & her work ethic sure beats mine. It would take me 40 years to finish what she has done & it only took her 4 years!!! You both should be extremely proud. Keep up the amazing work!!!!
