That quit is on fire and so is your Mom! She's is quite a great quilter and if her quilts are any indication she must be full of spunk. Way to go Natalie's Mom!

svenskaflicka1 02-13-2012 10:38 AM

the quilt is a marvel, and so is your mom! she is beautiful, and the quilt pales in comparison. what a wonderful legacy you share.

debs 02-13-2012 10:48 AM

I absolutely love seeingolder quilters doing bright outrageous patterns. I believe she has lots of fire in her body & love that she is still quilting. Give her a hug for me!

We are never too old to learn. Great looking mom and quilt. I learned to PP in my late seventies and it opened up a new world for me. Keeps our minds sharp.

KimS 02-13-2012 01:39 PM

I commented on your other thread and it's nice to see a picture of your Mom. She looks quite pleased with herself holding her quilt and she should be. The two of you are going to make so many wonderful memories quilting together. Have fun!!! :)

DeAnne-Mn. 02-13-2012 02:37 PM

Your Mom is beautiful and the quilt isn't bad either. Don't suppose you share your Mom or that she would consider adoption? LOL I have much to learn and I have a feeling Your Mom has much to teach. Lovely picture, thank you for sharing.

This is WONDERFUL, keep at it old girl, pattern reminds me of fire ,superb.

KathyPhillips 02-13-2012 03:13 PM

Dazzling, bold, lovely quilt!! This is not a "typical" quilt a "typical 86 yr old." would make! So she is not typical, but UNIQUE! Please tell her we all love this quilt. What is the pattern?

I agree with you that positive encouragement is very important. For all of us no matter the age. Say hi to your mom and tell her that she inspired me.

hershery 02-13-2012 07:30 PM

Raine 02-14-2012 02:52 AM

Mom, did an awesome job. I love the colors in her quilt, it is so alive. And the center star block with just the hint of blue, your mom really has insite to the future. I would listen careful to her if I was you. Kiss Mom and tell her I love her work and her insitefulness (if there is such a word).

char634w 02-14-2012 12:32 PM

She is precious and I think she is more encouraging to us than the other way around. And I love and appreciate the encouragement. Thank you both.

Kimkankwilt 02-14-2012 01:40 PM

Natalie, the thread is called "My mom's quilt show". Sorry, I didn't see your question until now! My mom is coming this week end and I'm going to show her this thread, too!

Both look great.

BETTY62 02-14-2012 10:37 PM

What a wonderful smile your Mom has on that pretty face. I love the pattern and the fabric in her quilt. I'm looking forward to seeing more of her work.

Foxflower 02-14-2012 10:44 PM

I don't think I've ever seen such a fabulous use of flame fabric. Awesome! Good job Mom!!!

Cheshirecatquilter 02-15-2012 05:23 AM

Ukinusa 02-16-2012 03:32 PM

Wow fantastic, so nice to see your mum and another of her lovely quilts after telling us about her.

Mum, are you really 86, you look so young? xxx

ejudy 02-17-2012 07:25 AM

What a wonderful photo. I know it's one you will treasure. My mother quilted until about age 91 and I finally had her last quilt top (for a grandson) quilted for her and took her photo with it in the nursing home at age 94. It always brings a smile and fond memories when I see it.

Pam Riggs 02-17-2012 07:36 AM

Very pretty - you are both blessed to have each other and to share the quilting passion. God Bless you both!

stitcherlady 02-17-2012 07:59 AM

That is so wonderful. What a treasure to be able to have that to share with your Mom. My Mom has made some quilts too, but waited til later in life to get started. She is now 86 too, but can't do too much because of her Macular Degeneration and Neuropathy....makes me kind of sad to see that she would have the time now, but does not have the ability. I'm glad your enjoying each moment, I know I do with my Mom too. Thanks so much for sharing with us.

Your mom is such an inspiration. She's lovely and so are her quilts! What an unusual Mariner's Compass, which is my favorite block. What creativity to use those fabrics!

littlesurfer 02-17-2012 12:39 PM

Quilt and Mom are both beautiful!
