And here's why - The quilt is great as it is, but look how the light border just disappears, even against the wall. It fades out. The darker border will frame the whole quilt, and then the lights will REALLY sparkle. |

Below is a photo of my quilt in its current state (it measures about 70 inches by 70 inches). Do I stop adding borders and keep it as is, or should I add one more border? I was planning on adding a dark blue pieced border as the final one, but I like how the yellow border makes the quilt look so "sparkly." I am tempted to keep it as is and just add a red binding for a touch of color at the edge. I am worried that a dark blue border may make it too somber, but it might tie everything together. I'd love to hear any thoughts or advice! Thanks! --Nicole |
I love it as it is. I hope when I grow up I can make quilts like that!
|
My vote is to bind it now, It looks finished. I love the quilt just the way it is!

Red binding.
|
Just add a small binding and call it quits. It's perfect.

Personally, I would leave it as is, but use a darker, solid for the binding to kind of "stop" it, if you know what I mean.

:-) I agree with the others. You put a lot of work in your quilt, it is very very nice. I'm like you, I sometimes don't know when to stop. Great job.

I agree with ihavelka

I love it as is. I think one more might be one too much.
|
I would leave the quilt as is unless you need a bigger size.

It is beautiful as is, but personally , I would put a blue border to keep your eye from going from the center and out of the picture because there is the light border that lets your eye leave the piece. You have done an awesome job so far and it will look wonderful whatever you decide. I am looking forward to see the finished quilt. Merry Christmas.

I was taught that the darker fabrics should be in the outer border, so I agree you need a dark border on the outside, blue would be beautiful and really show off the yellow border.

It is beautiful just as it is.

Use the dark border. It will set off the final border better so it does not look sort of undone. The quilt is beautiful and your colors are great. Congrats.

I like it the way that it is with the keyboard border. Maybe do the binding in the dark blue??????
|
It's very, very pretty & colorful just as it is!!

Well good luck with this choice. I love what you ahve done with this quilt so far. I too think a darker red boarder/binding would be great but really it will just depend on what idea you best like. Please post what you did in the end - I would love to see it.

I think a great finish would be a black border, bind in red.
It would make it an art piece and frame it nicely. |
This is gorgeous!
|
no more borders...it is great...I agree with a red binding.

Amen to this. The binding needs to make the pale border pop. Beautiful quilt! |
Perfect

Beautiful!! Great colour choices, I love Kaffe Fassett fabrics. With or without an extra border it will still be gorgeous ;-) (not much help am I :? )
|
I'd like to see some red brought out to a border. nothing pieced.
|
I would add one more blue border.
