Wow, Losie! The background fabric is delicious! Is it Kaffe Fassett?

It's Martha Negley for Rowan; I bought it in Dunedin over the 7/4 weekend. I would be in the poor house if I lived near that quilt shop. All of their fabrics are spectacular and so unusual.

It's week #13 & Block #26. Here is my block. This one is another easy one with no scrolls to slow you down. Perhaps some of you can catch up or jump ahead or just rest a while.

Candace, I am so in love with your blocks. I wasn't sure that what you were going to do would work, but boy, was I wrong! This is wonderful. Can't wait to see the whole quilt put together.

d.rickman 08-27-2011 06:58 PM

OMG ladies, your blocks are fabulous. Love your colors and you did such a nice job.

Deecee 08-27-2011 07:26 PM

I commented on the other thread that I like the crisp look of your green and white Kathy.

Candace you sure have been busy - love your colours and fabric choices.

Candace
I have been on vacation without my computer for the last two weeks and I come back to see all your wonderful blocks I just love them. I have not worked on my AOTH for three weeks now and I have a few things I have to do the next few weeks so I’m really missing this quilt. I can’t wait to get going again.
Lisa

d.rickman 08-29-2011 09:49 AM

I wondered what happened to you! Hope your vacation was terrific, welcome back and happy you are getting back into your quilt, can't wait to see more of your beautiful blocks.

Fabric Galore 08-29-2011 12:49 PM

Kathy and Candace, I love both of your blocks. So different but each is beautiful in a different way.

My vacation was both wonderful and sad at the same time. We went to Chicago with all three of our kids Ian-20, Chloe- 18 and Liam-13 to visit with my in-laws. My mother-in-law was told last January that she has ALS. This has been so devastating to everyone. We went to Chicago in January and I could not believe how much worse she has gotten between then and now. She now has a feeding tube because she cannot swallow or speak. The worst part is that is so withdrawn she would barely interact with any of us. She is so depressed and sad. We spent half our time with my husband’s parents and half the time doing all the things that we have all been wanting to do since the last time we were in Chicago.
We visited Bristol which is a big Renaissance fair and the kids and I dressed up in our costumes having lots of fun being dorks. We spent an entire day at the Art Institute of Chicago it is the most amazing art museum that I have ever been to my son and I were just in awe of everything. I was overwhelmed to see some of my favorite painting of all times. Including Mary Cassatt and, Renoir’s and some Japanese wood block prints done in the 1920’s. We spent another day at the Field Museum visiting our favorite dinosaurs. We toped of the trip going to see the Robert McCormack military museum, Mansion and gardens. It was absolutely amazing.
To top it off we eat so much great food and also were able to see some of my husband friends. Over all a very nice vacation I just wish my mother-in-law was not suffering so much.
I also missed all of you. I hope next week to be back to quilting I have so much to do at home and work to get caught up from being gone.

So sorry about your MIL. The aging process is so cruel, especially to those who are around them. I know it hurts when someone is slipping away. Glad you were able to have some fun while in Chi-town. DH earned his PhD from Illinois Institute of Technology down by Cominski Park (it's got a new name since they rebuilt it.)

Another beautiful block, Luv. Boy, what a dilemna! I love both of your border choices. I guess you will have to see which one looks best with you center unit. A good place to be rather than no border at all. :-D :-D :-D

luvmortherest 08-31-2011 01:11 PM

thank you

Deecee 08-31-2011 01:13 PM

Nice block fabrics and I love that border fabric also. Gives a different tone altogether.

Glad I don't have to decide.

Butterflyspain 08-31-2011 01:35 PM

Lovely Lovely block Luv, and great choices, better two than noe at all.

luvmortherest 08-31-2011 01:38 PM

thank you

d.rickman 08-31-2011 03:32 PM

You do beautiful work. Beautiful Block - your quilt will be fabulous with either border fabric. I am anxious to see your center unit and first border!!

Mousie 08-31-2011 05:16 PM

really nice block, luv...and I love what your doing and the border fabric, but...oh don't hit the mousie with a broom,...slurpalicious on the orange red border!!!
Where in the world did you find those fabrics? I can't even hold my jaw closed :XD:

QuiltswithConvicts 08-31-2011 06:59 PM

DH has a great eye for matching fabrics, doesn't he? I really like what he chose. Maybe you couldmake a 2nd AOTH in christmas colors & use the other stripe for those borders!!!

luvmortherest 08-31-2011 09:50 PM

thank you all

Mousie i found both fabrics at my local hancocks fabrics.

Kathy that is a great idea. i just might have to do that as now i am reall loving applique.

Mousie 09-01-2011 05:49 PM

does that red have metallic gold in it?

It sure looks like it does, so that means Luv HAS to make another AOTH in Christmas colors. Fabric is lovely as is the other one, but I think with the blocks she has shown us so far, the one with the blue in it goes best. IMHO

ann clare 09-03-2011 10:14 AM

Luv love your block. Like both borders but would like to see more blocks before deciding.

I completely agree with you about that, kathy. The blue is perfect for these blocks, but the red would be fabulous in a Christmas quilt!!!:D
