You are so right. I had forgotten. At our last Quilt Club meeting, we were to wear a hat that we had made. I don't do hats, but I did have the first center unit hanging around. I took it & folded it like we used to do when we were kids to make either a hat or a boat. Threw some basting stitches at it to get it to hold together & took it with me. After we were finished showing off the hats, I sat there & ripped out the basting stitches. Another member who is only just beginning to get serious about quilting really liked it & asked if she could have it. It wasn't really finished, but I gave it to her & told her to practice her binding on it. I get the funny idea it is hanging in her sewing room now!!! So all traces of the frst go-round of AOTH are out of the house. Yup, that's the same fabric! Infact most of the new block is identical to the other one, except I used different pinks for the outer flowers. Will take a pic when I get home with my new camera!

Without embroidery as I am saving all my blocks to take to the beach on vacation.

Roxanne, my first impression when I looked at your block was butterflies. It looks so bright and colorful. I love it.

Mousie 07-29-2011 06:38 AM

This is my Block #29. I managed to finish it while I was baby sitting my 20 month old DGGS. Thank God for nap times. I really needed them as he is perpetual motion.

wow, losie, your "babysitting" block sure went better than mine did, lol!
My wee one doesn't take naps! she's 3 1/2 and mommy doesn't have her in that routine, but she sleeps longer at night. :XD:

Flossy, Losie and Candi your blocks are beautiful and all so different.

Deecee 08-15-2011 01:13 PM

Wow that looks like a butterfly in the middle of your block Losie. Very nice.

Candi - very warm and glowing. I like the gold embroidery and the way it is slightly different.

Mousie 08-15-2011 01:51 PM

candi, you know I love those colors!   good job :D

Fabric Galore 08-15-2011 05:19 PM

Flossy and Candi I love your blocks. Picking out the colors for each block is the hardest part for me because I love all of the different colors. You did great with your colors.

candi 08-16-2011 04:22 PM

Thanks ladies for the kind comments.

Deecee, the embroidery is slightly different because of laziness, lol. Try to have as least stops/ starts as possible with bobbin work.

Losie,I am actually surprising myself in not obsessing over color selection for this quilt, but I do have the fabrics I bought for this quilt together, and my only criteria for selecting is that I don't select the same fabrics for the few blocks I cut together, other than that, I just pull this and that. I have never worked like that before, It is liberating!

It's one of my hardest but most favorite parts too. I can't make up my mind! :XD:
Candi, you did yourself a huge favor, but this method of working with fabrics. Sigh...I just don't have that much courage, or maybe I am a bit too, ocd...oy! ;)

See : from time to time you gals prove my point: Is there any one of you that has not said: "these are driving me nuts!" or something to that effect?? ... I know I will be very jealous of all your beautiful final products --- the challenge has been great, but the outcome is going to be worth it, for sure .....

But I don't need anything more to drive me nuts this year -- so your statements are giving me all the more reason for me to just sit back and enjoy your blood-sweat-and-tears and the beautiful fruits-of-your-labor vicariously ....

Ladies, you are blowing me away with your talent ..... each block you gals post is even more awe-inspiring than the one before .... Keep up the good work .... you keep gettin' "gooder-than-good" These most recent blocks are gorgeous ....

I agree with you about making me to get squiffy with you. These blocks are driving me nuts. we should be pros with the scrolls by the end of this quilt. All of these blocks are so pretty I love all the colors. It seems like you can't go wrong using the batiks everything blends so well. Thanks for sharing all these great blocks

well, Cornelia...I'd compare it to giving birth, sort of...would much rather work on aoth! for sure!
We keep going bc it's more fun than pain, lol, and we are into self-torture, too
I kind of think, the harder you have to work for it, the more pleasure it will be when finished. Right girls???
