I am new to this borad. I keep seeing block number and pictures yours is beautiful by the way. Would like what you are doing. Is there some type of block of the month on this board.

It's a block of the month that officially starts in June, for a quilt called Affairs of the Heart. The easiest way to find everything is to scroll right down to the bottom of the page and click on Topic Lists on the right. Then click on Affairs of the Heart Cyber Sew, and that will take you right to all the various block threads, and our discussion thread, plus a Gallery.

Kathy, I love your fussy cutting on this one - here is mine

emerald46 03-28-2011 03:55 AM

Love that block!

tslowery 03-28-2011 03:58 AM

Wow those are beautiful...love them..are they hard??

QuiltswithConvicts 03-28-2011 03:59 AM

Lesley, so glad you noticed that little feat of mine! Just had to get a but of orange in there with the purple! Actually I was thinking the block was rather plain looking, & I had this batik that I could fussy cut without wasting too much. The same thing happened with block #16, too.

I don't think so, but I am doing mine by machine, & Lesley is doing hers by needleturn, a technique I haven't mastered. If I'm doing hand applique, it's with freezer paper.

Butterflyspain 03-28-2011 04:11 AM

Gorgeous blocks Kathy and Lesley

nabobw 03-28-2011 05:12 AM

Love them

QuiltnNan 03-28-2011 07:42 AM

Hi, There! To find out more about this quilt, go to the bottom of this page (or any page on the Board) and click on Topic Lists. The top topic is Affairs of the Heart. Click on it and look for Affairs of the Heare Cyber Sew 2011. The link for it is also in my signature. This will give you all the information you will need to find out about what is going on.

sandpat 04-02-2011 06:23 AM

It seems that the little hearts really do need something with a little action in them! Love how you handled it Kathy...great job!

Both of you- yet another little beauty!

Elle, its lovely!! I love the turquoise and the deep grape...and the pink...and the peach....oh, I just love it! (but the turquoise makes it pop):)

Lacelady 04-03-2011 08:33 AM

Elle, another lovely stunner - they ALL look good!

Butterflyspain 04-03-2011 10:45 AM

Donīt they just and to think I didnīt want to do this doh......what a nanna I am. Now I am addicted. Cut all my pieces out for the next one, had to open the door and a gust blew all the pieces all over the place. lost a couple never to be found so will have to cut again darn it

QuiltswithConvicts 04-03-2011 11:35 AM

What's a "nanna"? I think the block is wonderful. You're on a roll now.

I have been playing with my fabrics & think about LBB. Can't do much more than that for now as I need 8 yards of background fabric - planning on getting it on next trip to Albuquerque, BUT if I wait, I won't have anything to take with me to work on while up there!

Butterflyspain 04-03-2011 11:59 AM

"Nanna" is an idiot. LOL another funny for you to keep to bemuse people with.

Lacelady 04-03-2011 01:15 PM

How funny, I knew what she meant! Nanna not as in grandmother, more with a long A as in Banana, but I have no idea where it comes from.

Mind you, I don't agree with her - anyone could open a door and not think about little pieces scattering like confetti!

LOL, just looked it up!

nana1
Ķ noun Brit. informal a silly person; a fool.

Origin
1960s: perh. a shortening of banana.
--------
nana2
(Brit. also nanna)
Ķ noun informal one's grandmother.

Origin
C19: child's pronunciation of nanny or gran.

Butterflyspain 04-03-2011 01:27 PM

Thanks for the info, I didnīt have any idea where it come from, thought it might be Cockney rhyming slang.

I still don't understand why a banana equates as someone being silly, so perhaps you are right Elle. I have a little book somewhere on Cockney slang. If I find it, I will look it up. Oh, just had another thought - could it be because people would look daft if they slid on the skin?

Jingle 04-03-2011 03:28 PM

All of the blocks are gorgeous.

Maybe because monkeys eat them, & we think their antics are funny?

We say "nanner, nanner, nanner" in a sing-songy sort of way when we are poking fun at someone (all in jest, of course - not cruel.)

Been cutting out tiny pieces of AOTH & ironing them onto their own block! No sewing this weekend. Bought 3 new quilting magazines - my favorite one, Quilter's Home, Quilting Arts & a new one - Mark Lipinski's Fabric Trends. I'm not sure the magazine is new, but Mark's name associated with it sure is. He was the editor of Quilter' Home Magazine until about a year ago when he sort of vaporized. Now it's being edited by Jake Fitch & Melissa Maher - Melissa is the one who interviewed me for the article last issue on the inmate quilting program. They are 2 really squiffy ladies!!! Melissa, are you lurking??? She does that, you know. That's how she found me.

Butterflyspain 04-03-2011 11:13 PM

LOL LOL nope you canīt say they are squiffy ladies that would imply that they are drunk. I love your translation of it though.

Yep, now thats squiffy. So far my AOTH havenīt been squiffy yet and that makes a change.

sandpat 04-04-2011 04:10 PM

Well, I'm thinking that this block 20 is going to drive me to get seriously squiffy!

BevF 04-04-2011 09:07 PM

Lovely! Wonderful colors.

Butterflyspain 04-04-2011 11:08 PM

Oh I promise you have a drink before you start. You wonīt notice it so much then LOL

Thanks Bev F. I am loving the batiks. They were given to me as a gift from a lovely lady on this board. I am working from 6" squares of baticks and have loads left had 40 of them all different shades beautiful.

Here's my block 29. Don't mind my masking tape. Some of my blocks like to fray, so I wrap them in tape to stop that. Won't remove it til I square them up. Thought these were pretty colors to work with around Easter time. Hope everyone who celebrates has a nice Easter.
