awwww bless your heart. you know sometimes we all can lay our pieces on the floor or design wall and still miss place a block. At least it is close to the edge to fix. Wonderful quilt by the way

sailsablazin 05-03-2013 05:39 AM

The quilt is beautiful. Yes, I found it right away. If the mistake will drive you crazy years from now, fix it now and then you won't be saying, "Don't look at this quilt. I made a mistake and never got around to fixing it."
I know myself and an obvious mistake would bother me years down the pike. It is really cute though. How did you make the plates that they stand up???

yorkie luv 05-03-2013 05:56 AM

It's beautiful, mistake and all.

littlebitoheaven 05-03-2013 06:13 AM

buddy'smom! Is it possible to applique the design onto the blue fabric? I think that I would try that first. I actually had to do that on a block that I made and it worked out well. Good luck! It is a beautiful quilt.

Thanks everyone, will take it apart. I guess I just can't leave it like that.

bearisgray 05-03-2013 06:20 AM

If it's still at "just the top" stage, I would fix it.

It would bother me a lot if I left it as is after noticing the difference!

It's a very pretty quilt.

Caswews 05-03-2013 06:38 AM

Its an original and something unique !! thanks for sharing

hudgoddess 05-03-2013 06:56 AM

Have you been using it? Draping it over the couch? Snuggling in it? Tucking it around a loved one? Nobody else has noticed or said anything? Then I say to call it a design feature!
Seriously, if it makes you crazy now, fix it. If it doesn't, don't. And if it doesn't make you crazy, no need to apologize to those who it does.
(I'd blame it on the cat!)

PenniF 05-03-2013 07:06 AM

Maybe someone already said this...but if it really bothers you - what about applique the Dresden plate quarter on that block? I think it's a very pretty quilt - and it would be a shame for it not to be seen.

Eva Knight 05-03-2013 07:08 AM

Saw the mistake, but had to look for it. Love the pattern, could you share it?

grammysharon 05-03-2013 07:53 AM

Yes, it shows up, my advice, fix it or you never will be happy with this quilt!!! I find an error in one of my quilts after I had finished quilting it, had to remove quilting, take out the patch, correct the error and applique it back in and re-quilt it. I was never sorry that I fixed it!!!

debbiemarie 05-03-2013 07:59 AM

Yes, I found it, but I had to look for it !!

Janice McC 05-03-2013 09:39 AM

Sure I found it but only because you pointed it out! (Why do we do that???) I'd leave it as is and smile every time you show it to someone and they DON'T see it without you showing them. Very pretty.

sewnut 05-03-2013 09:48 AM

Call it an Amish block. They always put one mistake in their quilts on purpose for humility. It's beautiful, and if you didn't say it was a mistake no one would notice.

QUILTNMO 05-03-2013 09:59 AM

as i say i have a mistake so it gives it character still nice quilt!!!

craftynell 05-03-2013 10:15 AM

Very nice quilt. Forget the mistake.

thimblebug6000 05-03-2013 10:16 AM

Your colours are really pretty. I would fix that mistake if it were me though. Also ... I'm wondering about the spacing of the others? What is the actual pattern name?

Letty 05-03-2013 10:17 AM

I am not even going to look, it's lovely x

Ditto! Leave it as it is. Lovely!

solstice3 05-03-2013 10:30 AM

found it. it is on a corner instead of in the middle ... if you can live with it don't bother ripping it apart

grandmaemma 05-03-2013 10:36 AM

It has personality...I wouldn't change it at all. It's beautiful.

MargeD 05-03-2013 10:44 AM

I might not have looked as closely had you not mentioned a mistake, however, I would think simply making another corner plate and appliquing it on would solve your problem. Thanks for sharing. You do know that the Amish deliberately put a mistake into every quilt they make because no one is perfect except for God. Fortunately, I don't have to make them deliberate. LOL

callen 05-03-2013 05:42 PM

I just did the same thing in a quilt I made. I convinced myself that only God is perfect & I don't want to offend him so I will probably just leave it to teach me some humility..LOL

Jingle 05-03-2013 06:15 PM

Very pretty. If you can't live with then you are right to fix it. I would do the same.

Grandma Peg 05-03-2013 07:14 PM

What a beautiful quilt! Never saw dresdens used for snowflakes.

Jaynie 05-03-2013 07:26 PM

Yes, but I agree with another comment....maybe only because you stated there was a mistake & I was looking for it. I actually kind of like it. Maybe you should just leave it. If you just can't live with it...it shouldn't be to much of a problem to take that one block out and reposition. Cute!!!

pumpkinpatchquilter 05-03-2013 07:33 PM

I too only found it after searching for quite some time...I say leave it. It can be your "humility block". If I make a mistake, as long as the quilt doesn't have some major purpose - like going in a quilt show - I leave it. You could put a sweet saying about humility or the endearment of human error on the label. I think it's a charming quilt - leave it as is! ;)

Lilrain 05-03-2013 07:37 PM

Only because you said there was one did I even look. I made a log cabin quilt and it wasn't until I was sewing on the binding after having it long arm quilted did I notice that two blocks were turned the wrong way. gave it to my niece, and I don't think she ever noticed the mistake.

twinkie 05-04-2013 03:17 AM

I was able to find it but probably wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't pointed it out

MaryAnnMc 05-04-2013 04:21 AM

I'm sure I would't have if you hadn't told me to look for it. But don't worry, we'll all keep it under our hats.

vmquilts 05-04-2013 05:05 AM

Always remember no snowflake is the same. Love it.

Judith1005 05-04-2013 05:11 AM

Hey, what happened to "No two Alike"?! As in no two snowflakes are alike. I too found your signature block. But, I really had to look for it. It really is a pretty design.

weasier22 05-04-2013 05:16 AM

I don't see the "mistake" ... only a unique quilt! It's beautiful as it is!

2manyhobbies 05-04-2013 05:37 AM

Move on,girl. No one will know if you don't point it out. If it bothers you, do the appliqué as suggested.

debbieoh 05-04-2013 06:00 AM

Found it but took me awhile. i don't think I would have spotted it you wouldn't have said there was one.

lue 05-04-2013 06:33 AM

If you didn't notice it for 3 years, I wouldn't notice it now! It's lovely as is. We don't want to have a "perfect" quilt anyway, do we?

tessagin 05-04-2013 07:29 AM

WE are all perfectly imperfect!

LindaMRB 05-04-2013 07:45 AM

Not sure I would fix anything but because I am a perfectionist I probably would, partly because there is such high contrast...I'd see that one corner fan missing in the upper left forever. Otherwise I like the modern/asymmetrical look of it and the fabrics you chose.
Also looks like a nicely pieced top!
My second quilt has a huge mistake that I STILL consider not only taking apart but re-hand quilting. It's never been used because it does not fit my kid's decor - it was an unfinished hand-me-down from 1935...

jbj137 05-04-2013 07:47 AM

Leave it.
It took me 2 tries to find it
It adds character.
I love it.

leftsox 05-04-2013 07:57 AM

What mistake? I see design elements!

It took you a long time to make this quilt and I don't think you should change it. It happened for a reason. I didn't see a mistake at first when I looked at the pic.......you pointed it out. I would have never second guessed the missing fan.

I say leave it. It's beautiful the way it is!

Mariposa 05-04-2013 08:11 AM

Very pretty! If it bothers you, and you have the fabrics to fix it, then do so. But perhaps first audition it to see if it "fits".
Meaning that there may be too much busyness in that spot, and instead may need a creative signature or such. :)
Just a thought~
