After over three years, a mistake??
1 Attachment(s)
I made this snowflake quilt a good three years ago, maybe more and just notice the mistake in it?? I don't want to take it all apart now, can you find the mistake???
I found it but only because you said the mistake was there and I am nosey. Your optional design change looks great to me, I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you for sharing.
yes and sorry to say it is pretty obvious. First snow flake in 2nd row is missing the quarter plate. Instead of taking it apart could you just applique one on?
Thanks, well these dresden plates stand up when quilted, there not all sewen down and kinda look like angel wings. Took a long time to make and I can kick myself in the butt for not seeing this huge mistake. The dresden plates were sewen on backwards, so would have to take apart and turn them around.

Call it your 'humility' block, I think your quilt is very pretty, love her imperfections.
funny, because of the title, the error just jumped right out at me. it's still very pretty
Thank you.It sure is.

If the plates "kind stand up like angel wings" I would make one stand alone quarter plate and back it (by putting it wrong sides together with a white fabric that matches and turning) and applique it on in such a way that it does stand out a bit. Surely it will look more intentional then the missing piece and will most definitely make the mistake not noticible to anyone.
It really is quite obvious that the upper left hand corner snowflake is missing an arm. Even if you had not mentioned there was a mistake I would have noticed it and wondered why the pattern was that way. |
Maybe it was knowing there was a mistake, but, yes, saw it right away.
Yes, but it makes it uniquely yours. Every quilt I make has one piece that is wrong side up. For whatever reason, (probably too lazy to take it apart and correct it) that became my signature trademark! My little booboo makes any quit a Linda Rucker original! Lol!
Your quilt is beautiful ! |
I stared and stared and could not find it - it was only after reading the posts that I could see what was missing. If it bothers you, then I would just applique the missing fan onto it.
It's pretty. I see the mistake, but wouldn't have if you hadn't ask the question.
Thanks everyone, will take it apart. I guess I just can't leave it like that.
I love the quilt and wouldn't change a thing! It is absolutely beautiful! Not all snowflakes look the same anyhow:thumbup:
Mistake??? You mean you just haven't gotten the special label block filled out yet..... right?
Sounds tempting, but it's the whole last row, not just one.
Oh yes, I can see the mistake only because you made a point to let us know. I do love the quilt though, just the way it is. Very nice job!!
:D :D :D :D |
I wouldn't change a thing in it. I like it. It is pretty. A little mistake just proves we are still seeing. LOL
hey, snowflakes aren't supposed to be alike. so no worries!
I found the mistake, but it is beautiful as it is, and after three years, I think I would leave it alone and like others have stated, call it your humility block. It is great!
My mom always said, "You won't notice it on a galloping horse." So gallop away. That is a pretty quilt. I probably wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out. Good luck. Applique covers many indiscretions.
why did you make me work so hard, finally found it, it is very nice
If it isn't quilted you can change it easily at this point. You don't have to take out a whole row, just the two blocks and a little of the seams to the blocks next to them. You will always be unhappy knowing it is there. When a quilt is a simpler looking design it is easier to find an error. It is so pretty and well worth your effort to correct the error. If it were an ugly quilt, I wouldn't bother, but this is so pretty.
I think that it is a lovely quilt
Yes, I see it but doubt I would have noticed f you had not said one was there. One time I made a small quilted wallhanging...it was the pineapple pattern. It had an off-white paisley in it. I made it, quilted it by hand, and did not notice that one piece of the paisley was wrong side out till a long time after I had bound it and put it away!
You can always make the section and just applique it over the oops and then quilt it and no one would be the wiser. Ask me how I know :) It's a beautiful quilt!
It's a gorgeous quilt! It's a reminder to stay humble--even when you make totally stunning quilts---(which this is!)
If you want to fix it, and you haven't quilted it yet I would say undo the upper corner and fix it. But it took you three years to see it and only you said it had a error. I cant prove it wasn't suppose to be that way in the first place.
I spotted it!! Its still pretty.
Yes because you told us to look for it
the question is will you be happy if you leave it there only you can answer that |
I think that like all the others, I was looking for the mistake. If it took you 3 yrs. to notice it I don't think anyone else will immediately see it, if you don't say the word "mistake". And if they do .....so what.
If you don't tell no one will notice! I saw it only because you gave me a heads up shhh
No one here is the "Quilt Police" I like this quilt. No matter if there is a mistake. I will take it.
It melted ...after all it is a snowflake..that would be my story and I would stick to it!!
It is still beautiful!!! |
Just beautiful, terrific job and thank you for sharing, only found it cause you mentioned it. LOL
Have a Blessed day Ellen |
The quilt is very pretty. When I look at it, I see flowers and what a great spot you have to appliqué a lady bug .
I think it looks much more casual and fun than if the flower were in the correct place ( not that that would look bad). Leave it and enjoy the happy accident!
It makes it super special!
This is a darling quilt and a terrific design. If it were me, I'd go nuts if I didn't correct the misplacement - because it's so obvious. Not to say I'm a perfectionist - in other quilts I have left many an error, but not ones that are so noticeable. After you're done kicking yourself, buck up and fix it - you'll be so glad you did!
There is only one perfect person . We must try to do our best but in my quilts there is always one mistake..I leave it there as part of me. Love the quilt. Hugs
