Airing of the Quilts, Smithville, Tx. November 12, 2011
10 Attachment(s)
Took pictures of the quilts and am posting a few of them. Our community members graciously contribute to the event by hanging their quilts out to air. Downtown is lined up with them and vendors selling quilts and quilting supplies.

Sounds like a cool event! Wish I was closer so I could see some of the quilts in person. Thanks for sharing.

What a great turnout of quilts! Looks like the whole community participated in this event! Beautiful. Wish there was something similar here. I have never heard of a quilt airing day here!

What fun! Could you post the date for next year so that those of us who are close enough can make a day trip.
Yes, thanks for sharing. We appreciate it. I found the log cabin with the triangle pieces on the edge interesting. Does it have a name for the pattern?
That is so pretty. The quilts are beautiful.
How cool is that? You must have had a great day and thank you for sharing it with us. Such an "ahhhh moment" to see a quilt hanging from the clothesline, at least for me it is. I get to attend the Pac NW quilt show at our local fairgrounds next weekend or I'd be drooling with envy.
how lucky you were to get to enjoy that. Looked like great weather too. Thanks for sharing, looks like something I would of loved to attend.

Shades of Sisters, Oregon. I went to that for the first time last year. Absolutely loved it. This one seems to have the same "feel" to it. Warning! My sandles fell apart (it was mid summer) and I had to buy new shoes. Got blisters, and had to buy new shoes. The upside is I now have two pairs of shoes that I love and memories galore. Women from Gee's Bend were there, had taught a class and showed off some Gee's Bend quilts and the ones the students had done. Such movement! Such freedom!

The log cabin with HST in the border is a nice addition to that pattern.
Thanks for posting; looks amazing!
What a delightful event. You must live in a wonderful town - anyone who loves and embraces quilting has to be OK!
