amazing...

raedar63 04-23-2012 11:35 AM

Truly stunning!

Surprisingly, I don't think this one is overquilted because there are no swirls or feathers on it. The straight lines are a good foil for the swirls of the applique. It seems to hang straight also, so that tells me the quilting fits the design and is not overdone, IMHO.

CAS49OR 04-23-2012 01:17 PM

I love the way the quilted lines radiate out, straight lines to complement all the curves in the applique.

Wonderful!!!!!!

allie1448 04-23-2012 01:38 PM

Incredible quilt and perfect complementing quilting

butterflies5518 04-23-2012 02:32 PM

Amazing, I applaud the creator and maker, extremely beyond anything I have ever seen. For me it would be "look but don't touch".

callen 04-23-2012 03:37 PM

That is one Fabulous quilt.

quiltingnonie 04-23-2012 04:31 PM

What a work of art! If the maker didn't win any ribbons, she certainly should have won one for Patience! :)

Amazing work. Thank you for sharing.

jlwheart 04-23-2012 07:18 PM

Wow, you're right, this is a beautiful quilt. It looks like the quilting threads were intended to be part of the design element. Anyway, that's a way to increase the thread's beauty in quilting it like this. I love it!

danece 04-23-2012 08:09 PM

What a great looking quilt, the color and design are amazing, hopefully it was awarded a prize

chuckbere15 04-23-2012 09:30 PM

Wow! That is stunning. I am just wondering how many hours that went into that piece of work with design, fabric selection, and execution?

littlenell7777 04-24-2012 05:21 AM

Beautiful quilt and quilting. I should have been a winner, if it wasn't.

I used your idea to zoom in and I think I could see Quilter's Newsletter and maybe Fabric Fandango. I have some old Quilters Newsletters I plan to check later. I keep coming back to this thread because the more I look at this quilt the more amazing it is to me.

Yes, this pattern is from Quilter's Newsletter magazine from a few years ago. I remember saving that magazine, thinking that some day I would like to make this quilt too. Now I feel the urge to go dig it out again. The applique, at least in the magazine article, was done with fusible. Such a gorgeous quilt!

Yes. Happy to say I found it in March 2006/No. 380.

Gives me a headache just thinking about trying that.

Beautiful work!

earthwalker 04-27-2012 12:16 AM

Thanks for taking the time to share with us. A very beautiful and intricate quilt. I think the quilting goes well with the design and enhances rather than overpowers. It is so interesting so see such work and be able to discuss it with enthusiasts, who each bring their own ideas and share comments. As usual a visit to this board is fun, educational and thought provoking.

brady 04-28-2012 12:52 AM

Wow! Absolutely beautiful!!!

NanaCsews2 04-28-2012 07:33 PM

Rachel Wetzler, Fandango
Will have to go looking for this pattern now and put it on my list of to-do's. Thanks for sharing, it is beautiful!! As is Rachel's yellow one. If you google her you will see her quilt.

Delbra 04-29-2012 01:05 AM

So much talent.

I think its a great quilt but I am in agreement with you - I think it will take away from the beautiful applique especially after its washed. I like the new machines but I tend to like the quilting of yester year that actually shows off designs. Just my thoughts though.

Jammin' Jane 05-01-2012 09:48 PM

What a masterpiece!!!! Love it! :)

Lilrain 05-01-2012 09:55 PM

you are so right, amazing

Alondra 05-03-2012 07:33 PM

This quilt most likely took its inspiration from the colorful Mexican Talavera ware. There are lots of pictures online.

This quilt is called Fandango. I first saw it on the cover of one of the quilt magazines. I have one in progress, but I’m stuck on the borders.

LindaMRB 05-07-2018 10:18 AM

Pretty amazing indeed! Did it win any prizes???
I was too wowed to pay much attention to the quilting (too much or not) but generally speaking, I think machine quilters often do more than is needed, even if it is pretty!

Jane Quilter 05-07-2018 11:48 AM

Just stunning.....way out of my league.

jlt37869 05-07-2018 12:03 PM

Sue z q would love to see a photo of yours when finished.

My first thought when I first saw it was: Ricky Tim.

osewme 05-07-2018 06:57 PM

Absolutely beautiful. I like everything about that quilt!
