Yes, there are common colours used in Amish quilts--black is one of them, along with dark blue and dark green. As time has passed, more and more Amish ladies are using brighter colours as accents in their quilts.

As for the patterns, there are so many that they make, but a few of the common ones associated with the Amish are Log Cabin, Wedding Ring, Broken Star and Boston Common.
