I know what ya mean....I can do that to.....Later on today I will do that, and I will let ya know when I get ready to put it on....But in the mean time, let me see if I can talk you through it......
this is for the half squares: if you are only using 2 colors for the star, you will need--4 squares each and 4 for the main color..after you get the correct measurement from the 1/2 squares then you will cut the 4 corner squares to match the 1/2 squares size....
1. cut your blocks out first...
2.draw a line from one corner to the next.
3.sew a 1/4 seam allowance on each side of the block w/lines....
4.cut the 1/2 squares on the line and press and cut off the bunny ears..(you should have 4 main color 1/2 squares and 4 each with main color) total of 12 1/2 squares...
5.then place the squares so you can see the star pattern. ( I have to play with this part everytime)...
6. Put this block in place and start sewing it together..... :!: :P

hope this helps....let me know.....
