I vote for sashing. Maybe pink or gold with green cornerstones? Beautiful blocks!

Audition some colors and see if there's one you like in particular. I think pink, green, or gold would be beautiful. You have a great eye for color in the fans. Trust yourself.
I say go for the gold. I agree about narrow also.
I think it needs sashing. It will be beautiful either way.
Yep. Needs sashing. How about either that pink or lilac color?
Yes, something between to show off your beautiful blocks. :-)
I like the idea of the green to match the green in the fan fabric.
If you want to stay with the oriental theme of your quilt I would use gold or red for the sashing. Id like to see you move them closer together so I could see what the blocks look like without sashing. Maybe your second guessing yourself and it is good without.
I think I like the idea of green sashing, but like a moss green. Please post pictures when decided. The quilt is beautiful. :):):)
green gold combination
with black background it would be more striking with something between.
my choice would be one of the soft greens in the fabric.

Beautiful quilt..my personal opinion is a thin gold sashing would be great..good luck !!!
Some kind of sashing would certainly make those blocks stand out. Or if no sashing a sensational border far enough away from the fans so not to take your eye from them just compliment them by framing them.
i think i would pick the darkest red/pink color... i love black & red...
I vote for pink. :D :D :D
Update: I bought some med-dk green batik and some purple/pink batik. Will cut them tomorrow/Sunday if I have time. Pics will follow when I get it put together! Thanks for all your thoughts/help.

Pick up on the rose, pink, red sashing
I love your blocks. They are so pretty. I think a warm rosy pink would be the perfect color to set them off.
I'm trying to remember the manufacturer...Kaufman, maybe? They have a line of print/blenders that look like satin. I want to use *that* in gold for your sashing!
The blocks definately need sashing. Now for the cop out. In my opinion I think you should find a green fabric with a gold design. It would be elegant.
Personally I would use pink.
I would go with a light pink, as it will set off all the blocks. The fabric is gorgeous.
What about a pink or a lavender or a green something like the green in the bottom center block.
if you want the 'fans' to float on the black, don't use strips. i personally would like to use strips between, to set them off as individual blocks....
Go with deep red shashing as it won't take away from the black.
