Well, I am torn. I think it needs either green or gold between the blocks but I also kinda like it with nothing. Thoughts from the group, please.
yes something between.....
I think it needs sashing. What color you need to audition it out. I would not go without sashing on those beautiful fan blocks. You want them framed so the eye will be compelled to flow from block to block and rest on individual fans.
I'm personally a fan of using some green in between the blocks. I think it would really bring out the colors you are using.
I think the gold would be a good choice, however depending on the shade of green that might be good too. Audit them. I would make the sashing very narrow.
I kinda like the thought of golds. They are so elegant!
its very pretty, and I am as stumped as you are about the sashing, sorry
The blocks are beautiful, I would use pink for sashing, lets see some auditioning.

I think green sashing would be good.
The green or any sashing that you use I would not have it so overly bright as to take away from those gorgeous blocks. Moss green might work. |
Why not use a narrow border of the fabric in the fans? If you did it real narrow (about a 1/2" finished, it would compliment the fans rather than take away from them.
Your blocks are beautiful. |
Beautiful. Definately needs sashing, gold might make it look very elegant. Try some out of both green and gold and see which one you like best.
Good luck! |
Beautiful blocks. I like gold.

I think I'd either go with green or gold sashing.... I like the way sashing generally sets off the blocks. These blocks are gorgeous!

beautiful, gold would be so pretty
Needs sashing, but the color is up to you. IMO gold would really make those fans pop.
Gold would be great! If I had enuf of the gold I just used on an oriental quilt I'd send it to u! Love it! Did u make pattern up? If not would u pm me the name? Have tons of oriental scraps and fab left!!!
Beautiful fans!! I would use gold sashing! Can't wait to see it finished!
I think a light green would be perfect.
Always marching to another drummer... LOL
I would piece them as is and do some nice decorative stitching down each side of the seams... in color of choice... for me it would be cream, silver grey, or gold...just a thought! B |
well, I bought the fabric pre-cut on ebay so there is no more. I was thinking green or gold because that's already in there and would be simpler to match. I really like the fans, though!
I would do a very thin pink, or red
Guess I'm diferent also. I like the black as is. It makes the fans float and will leave a nice area for elaborate quilting when the blocks are joined. A nice tassel hanging from each fan would also be nice. Then I would use the floral for a wide border.
I agree with auditioning many different fabrics. Sometimes you will be surprised as to which makes it just perfect!
May be going against the majority here, but the insets may stand out more without sashing.....

I would make some of the fan blocks and the audition some colors for the sashing. They will look different when they are sewn.
It will be beautiful which ever color you choose. I immediately thought "Pink!" but I'm partial to pink. Gorgeous blocks!
Blocks are beautiful !! :-D
Sashing for sure, but color I'm not sure, :-( |
So pretty!
Go with the Gold!!!!
I like the idea of the green. Are your blocks ever gorgeous
PINK!!!!!
I don't have a suggestion about sashing, but I think your blocks are very pretty !

Definately green, don't use pink as there is enough pink in the blocks.
What about a pink fabric for a narrow sashing.
The pink will carry the pink from the fans. Pink and black make a great combination for this quilt. And use a pink/black print fabric for the border. Use black for the binding. |
