Wow....it's very good! Love the puzzle quilt

lindyline 07-06-2010 09:12 PM

thanks. I also love the puzzle quilt. When i first saw it in a magazine, it was an eye spy. Very easy to do.

Pam 07-06-2010 09:23 PM

OK, I see a few "eyelashes" on the darling puzle quilt, very good! I really like your collie! Over all a great job!

I sure am glad that I am not your mom, I would hate to push you around in a wheelchair for the rest of MY life because you fell down the first time you tried to walk.

You did a great job on both! Keep on going!

magnolia 07-06-2010 09:24 PM

That looks like a very hard pp to do. The one I tried was hard enough and it didn't work out. I will have to keep trying. Yours looks amazing.

sharone 07-06-2010 09:34 PM

Well done - love both of them!

lindyline 07-06-2010 09:35 PM

So pam, now's not a good time to tell you i'm in a wheelchair then??
Just kidding, but I have been a couple of times. I get the message, I should do more, but I jsust didn't enjoy it much.
I do keep at it every now and then, but the eyelashes are too much, so I rip it out and SID.

tweetee 07-06-2010 10:07 PM

Wow, very nice, love the PP, I tried my hand at that and just cant get it!

Love the puzzle quilt, I have a UFO that is a puzzle, but I think your is much nicer!

Hey, we all have our "thing" in the quilting world. I also would be happy to not have to do FMQ...but I do it on small things so I can afford to have the big things sent out. I love the puzzle quilt.

sharon b 07-06-2010 10:08 PM

Love the puzzle quilt.. do you remember what magazine the pattern was in ?

Great job on both

Pam 07-06-2010 10:15 PM

OK,I am not in a wheel chair yet, but if it keeps on going like this, I will soon be!!! LOL great minds are sick!

The reason you get the eyelashes is because you are moving your quilt too quickly under the needle. Take a breath, LISTEN to your machine reving up and slowing down with your foot, then make your hands stay with the sound of your machine.

I had a hard time getting hands to coordinate with the foot pedal, but LISTEN, your ear will tell your hands how fast to go.

Believe me, this is do-able! If I can figure it out, so can you! Great things are waiting for you to make them!

lindyline 07-06-2010 10:34 PM

An Qustralian Wuilting one.Still have it here somewhere. If you'd ;like a copy, pm me and i'll send it. email or snail.

lindyline 07-06-2010 10:34 PM

oops, have dyslexia, meant quilting

lindyline 07-06-2010 10:35 PM

pam, thanks. I also know the theory, but putting into practice is entirely different.

On a different thread, maybe even a different forum...or a different universe?...a gal gave a suggestion that I want to try. If you have a machine with a manual start/stop button which allows you to start the needle moving without using the foot pedal, practice using that method of running the machine...it will stay at a steady speed and reduce the stress of coordinating hand and foot. With this technique, you can also set the speed of the machine, if you have that capability, so that it not only is steady, but also runs at the speed with which you are comfortable.

I adore that puzzle quilt ... love the paper piecing as well... but I want the butterfly quilt .. ;)

stitchinwitch 07-07-2010 04:00 AM

NICE!! Keep up the good work.

sidmona 07-07-2010 04:28 AM

Great job on the quilting - it does take practice - and I absolutely adore the PPd collie.

LeeAnn 07-07-2010 04:30 AM

I think you did a good job. The puzzle quilt is so cute. FMQ takes some practice. You chose an ambitious pattern for your first paper peicing. You did an excellent job. Hang in there and keep practicing.

I, too, have tried FMQ. Things that were supposed to be rounded ended up being pointed and things that were to be pointed were rounded. Stitch length was first short then long. Thank goodness this was just on a practice piece I used after I got my new walking foot. I'm afraid I just wasted $30.00 on the foot. I think I will stick to hand quilting. I like the look of that better anyway.

littlehud 07-07-2010 11:32 AM

Those all look great. I love the jig saw quilt and that collie is awesome. I just like them all. Your quilting is going fine. Just keep practicing and soon you will love it. Thanks for sharing.

Ditter43 07-07-2010 11:46 AM

Great!

fancifrock 07-07-2010 12:35 PM

Both of your quilts are beautiful. I hope I live long enough to try all of these. Guess that is why I enjoy table runners. I get to at least try a few patterns. Your puzzle quilt is fabulous!!!!!!

annette1952 07-07-2010 03:45 PM

I love the puzzle quilt & your PP block. Of course I want to make a puzzle quilt now too! LOL Great job on them both!

mom-6 07-07-2010 04:15 PM

Did you have a pattern for the puzzle quilt or design it yourself? I really like it and my DGS is very much a lover of jigsaw puzzles. I made him a pillow with the autism awareness puzzle fabric from Hobby Lobby.

anicra 07-08-2010 03:28 AM

The puzzle quilt is adorable and I like the dog, too.

finch 07-08-2010 03:45 AM

Love them both.My husband is a crossword puzzle addict.Where can I get the puzzle quilt pattern??

Babs194068 07-08-2010 04:47 AM

I'm sorry you dislike these projects. I think the puzzle is great and so is your first paper pieced

Quilt4u 07-08-2010 04:49 AM

Wow!!!!! I love them.

Babs194068 07-08-2010 04:53 AM

What the heck are eyelashes in the puzzle quilt?

lindyline 07-08-2010 04:54 AM

If you really want the puzzle quilt, pm me and i'll copy and send it. Tried to email it tonight, but the file's too big, and I'm slightly(ha ha try extremely) computer dyslexic. Thank goodness the sewing machine hasn't got a computer...

lindyline 07-08-2010 04:56 AM

Babs, if you have a good look at the close up, the line of stitching has cute little ëyelashes"poking up through it. It's a nice way of saying my fmq sucks.. just kidding, ..
