I wish I could buy your house!

GreatStarter 10-23-2011 11:34 AM

Enjoy your two year adventure! I can't imagine leaving family and friends like you will be doing, however it's an adventure. You will be back in the states in just a couple of years. Pack up plenty of kits and just look at it as a fun new experience.

What a great experience you are in for! The time will fly by and before you know it you will be back here designing your new sewing room, oh, I mean house. Stay on this board and let us know how you are getting along.

If I didn't love him so much, I would give up my husband and keep the room. What an amazing room!

michelehuston 10-23-2011 12:20 PM

That is an amazing room...and great stash!! I know this must be very difficult for you, but you can plan another when you get back!!!

Hubby has an incredible 30x30 workshop & I have an awesome sewing room that should have been 2 bedrooms, but we had it built as one room.

I am part of a group of women that have been friends & retreating buddies for years. We take turns retreating in each others' homes so I wanted/needed a room that could accommodate 6-7 women sewing on their machines.

I also have a very large stash that I wanted to be able to see, touch & easily access. I had a mid arm machine with a 12 ft table that I recently sold.

We will build another house when we come back. I won't replace the quilter, but I still want a sewing room close to this size.

Thanks for looking, understand that my room is not really this neat, I just moved things from one end to the other when I took the pictures so that it looks neat!

My heart goes out to you to have to leave such a beautiful sewing room. I would not want to. I do have a question for you though. I see that you sew on a table like I do. I have problems with my table viberating when I start sewing fast. Does yours? And how can I stop the table from doing that?

jaciqltznok 10-23-2011 12:45 PM

can I have the HOUSE....I got the stuff to put in it already....

two years will go by really fast..I would have just rented the house..to a good quilty friend of course...

allie1448 10-23-2011 12:55 PM

Wow, so sorry you have to give it up for a while it is quite stunning!

angelahen 10-23-2011 01:40 PM

OMG!!! How awesome is your sewing room. I would be gutted to be leaving it. But have fun designing your next one.

AUQuilter 10-23-2011 01:44 PM

I am sure you will miss this fabulous space! But there is one thing I have found with those who love sewing and quilting- we can work in small spaces if we have to.

maryel 10-23-2011 01:45 PM

It must be really hard to give all that up. Your sewing room looks like a sewers dream room. Good luck on your move.

owlvamp 10-23-2011 01:50 PM

Wow! Now that's what I call a stash!

NannaL 10-23-2011 02:09 PM

What a shame you have to leave Quilters Paradise, yes you will get a surprise when you get back in 2 years. I had to go with my husband and live in Hong Kong for 6 years, left all behind in storage, only took a few kits with me. You will be right, enjoy your time away knowing what you have waiting for you on your return.

blueangel 10-23-2011 09:43 PM

Wow you could have a store.

leiladylei54 10-23-2011 10:09 PM

Wow, what an awesome sewing room!!! I would hate to give that up.

cindy4857 10-24-2011 12:36 AM

Love the space, Greatly admire your "stash" but feel a little sad cuz your leaving it and your good friends behind. I hope when you return, you can reunite with it all and have a room as nice as the one you have now. Good luck with your two year stay and may god be with you. May I ask what your husband does for a living? Have you had to move very often. It is unimaginable to me to have to move with so much comfort around you.

Rainy Day 10-24-2011 12:43 AM

There are quilters on this board in Saudi, maybe you could meet up with them.
I would be sad to leave a room like that too, but I bet the next one you build will be even better.

Happy Tails 10-24-2011 02:50 AM

I'd let the hubby go and I'd stay - He could visit and 2 years does go by very fast :)

Just Me... 10-24-2011 03:21 AM

Love the shelving for the stash!

Quilt-Till-U-Wilt 10-24-2011 03:28 AM

Wow. All I can think of is how are you going to pack all that.

homecaregiver 10-24-2011 03:39 AM

Have a safe and happy journey. I love the room and all your stash.
Good luck.

Best wishes on your move and I would love to have your wonderful room-looks more like a quilt shop.

Babs194068 10-24-2011 03:50 AM

awesome space

noveltyjunkie 10-24-2011 03:52 AM

Best of luck in your adventure! It's a marvellous sewing room but sometimes you have to get out of that (particularly attractive) comfort zone and be open to unexpected inspiration elsewhere ;-)

gonzales_pat 10-24-2011 03:56 AM

Your room is so nice love all the fabric. Have a great trip. Don't think I could leave all that fabric. Good luck

TacoMama 10-24-2011 04:00 AM

Good luck in Saudi Arabia. Hope all goes well there. I know you will miss your sewing room!!!!

Sewfine 10-24-2011 04:02 AM

Awesome sewing room and a nice stash. It would be hard for me to give all that up. But do what you have to do. Good Luck.

OmaForFour 10-24-2011 04:04 AM

If I were you I would rent the house and put the sewing room and workshop in storage. I am sure someone would take good care of your furniture etc for the two years you are gone. That seems to me to be too much to give up.

lfletcher 10-24-2011 04:11 AM

That's incredible. I showed it to my husband who thinks I have a lot, but I can't compare. My husband is finishing up his 24 x 36 workshop and I have two rooms. One for piecing and my stash and a separate room for my longarm. When you get back, I hope you get a space as nice. Good luck on your journey.

runninL8 10-24-2011 04:15 AM

What an absolutely fabulous space for your quilting! - one many of us only wish for. Wishing you well in your move!

catladyquilts 10-24-2011 04:25 AM

bigsister63 10-24-2011 04:40 AM

Sorry but WHY???????

LindaJ 10-24-2011 04:43 AM

Wow that would be awesome to have that much room and so neat and organized. Good luck with the move.

lodad 10-24-2011 04:55 AM

What a Quilters paradise. My entire house would fit in that room with space left over. I wish I could buy your house.

Lowell ;) ;(

mequilter 10-24-2011 04:58 AM

Good luck with your move, I'd so hate to leave that sewing space, too.

Mariposa 10-24-2011 05:00 AM

Wow! What a space!! Best to you for your move~

JanetP 10-24-2011 05:06 AM

Enjoy your stay in Saudi. But to have to give up that room -- that would be very hard.

Maresan 10-24-2011 05:08 AM

Wow, that is quite a sewing room and stash. Best of luck on your move.

duckydo 10-24-2011 05:08 AM

Wow, it is so neat, my sewing room always has something drug out. My DH says this place is a mess, my reply It is my sewing room.. Good luck on your move. Love the room

mountain deb 10-24-2011 05:13 AM

I saw the best tool hanging off your wall in one of the pics. It is a back scratcher. That brings more relief during some extreme times than I want to think about. lol But seriously, do not think what you left behind, but look to the fantastic opportunities the move will give you. Some of the fabrics you will buy over there and the great architectural designs that will inspire and and and well it is over whelming. Would love to have the opportunity to travel again. Remember, you are only a mouse click away from us.
