WOW, what a work of art!!!! I have been drooling over this quilt for several years. You did a wonderful job, how long did it take you to make this masterpeice?
Thanks for sharing. |
Too cute! Great job
That is SUCH a CUTE quilt. Is it machine applique? Thanks so much for posting.
Beautiful quilt. Did you use just straight stitch for the applique? I've done some appique and I used a wood dowel with a point to hold down the fabric and did slow careful satin stitch in curve areas so the material would not pucker. Love your quilt.

Fantastic!!!

Thank you all for the kudos and useful input- i really am learning so much from you all on the board and the suggestion of "soft fuse"
To group answer some of your questions: I worked on this quilt off and on for about six months. My goal for myself was 3-4 blocks a month- depending on how intricate each block was and how much I changed the original pattern. Then I set a goal of one month to do all the borders and one month to quilt. I did some ripping as I was learning to FMQ. The raw edge is zig zagged with invisible thread using two sizes of stitch. Again thanks for looking...Laura |
You did a fantastic job and I have to get this pattern....love halloween!!!!
this has the WOW factor as Howie Mandel would say, I love it
Wow..........that's all. I'm speechless............just amazing............
You have made the perfect quilt. This Halloween lover is absolutely in awe of your talent. Hope you're keeping it for yourself.

Wonderful!

Laura - your quilt is sooooo cute! I love it. I will have to show it to a friend that loves Halloween quilts.
You asked about an alternative to Heat 'n Bond. I, like you, have used Steam A Seam and did not like it - I have gone back to Heat 'n Bond. But, I visited a quilt show two weeks ago and sat in on a demonstration for Mistyfuse. I had never heard of it, although the demonstrator said it has been around for some time. I was impressed with the product - and of course, walked out of the show with several packets of Mistyfuse. It is so lightweight it hardly feels like there is any fusing on the backside of the applique. Have not had time yet to actually use it in a project. It is an ultra-fine webbing that won't gum up your needles and reduces bulk. You might try it - I would think any LQS would know about it. Happy Halloween! |
That is definitely an awesome quilt.
Where can I get this pattern? I love it.
This is fantastic! I loove it! Not a big Halloween person but this is just too too cute!!!
OMGosh! This quilt is just fabulous! It is a winner :)
Love this quilt. Wonderful job!!!
Very cute!
soooo very cute, i love baltimore and Halloween even better, you combined the best of both worlds!
Wow what an impressive job. I would continue the same stich for the witch.
I like the round quilting on the moon. You did a fantastic job! I hope you enter this in a show as you will get a blue ribbon for sure.
That is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I have been drooling over the pattern at keepsake.
Fantastic quilt!
Lot's of my friends use Misty Fuse. A lite fusible for their applique work. Also I love the round stitching on the moon. I'm afraid that it would show if you were to 'rip' it out. You have done a TON of work on this quilt! It shows and it's just beautiful!

Your quilt is beautiful and you did a marvelous job on it. Have you thought about using fabric glue to hold the small pieces down to be apliqued? You can get washable fabric glue. On the fmq on the witch, I like the way you were doing it. It gave it motion. Great job.

Beautiful quilt...love it!!!
I also used Steam-a-Seam and was not pleased with it, but then I saw somewhere that you were supposed to steam it and not just iron it...uh oh!!! So, I went back and really steamed it well and it held much better, but I didn't like that my needle was still getting gummy. Does anyone know if the Misty alternative gets your needle gummy? |
Kalady,
I love your quilt, and realized this afternoon (after looking at it for the umteen time :) that the center block of your quilt is different than the Baltimore Halloween pattern. Can you please share where that block came from?? Many thanks, |
The cutest quilt. Did you have a pattern or make it up. I just joined in today for the first time and saw it.

Very nice! Love all the changes. You've done a great job!
My hat is off to you, you have quite the design talent -- as well as quilting. I know we will be seeing LOTS of your work in the future. You certainly are to be appreciated for what you've done with this quilt.
Love it.
You did a wonderful job on your quilt. So, pretty and very creative. I also have quite a time with fusibles. Wish there was something out there that would not be still. I usually only do wall hangings or something small when it comes to using fusibles.
I love it!
How gorgeous.....that is a beautiful quilt.
What a Boo-u-tea-full quilt!!! Absolutely lovely!
Love it
