When I did mine, I had strips sets left over so I used them in the border. Just an idea. :-D http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-95466-1.htm

malega 07-22-2011 03:52 AM

That is so very beautiful.

star619 07-22-2011 03:56 AM

Gorgeous! Just audition different options - your eye will know when it's the right one!

Totally agree. You did a great job!

NO BORDER!! It looks perfect the way it is. I used to add borders to everything and now I don't. If you like it, leave it as is. I love the colors and fabrics. It is an incredible quilt.

teacherbailey 07-22-2011 04:23 AM

I love that quilt and that book! I'd go with a couple of very simple and relatively narrow borders.

Vat 07-22-2011 04:23 AM

It needs borders. I think more than one.

Tweety2911 07-22-2011 04:45 AM

Beautiful colors!

Pieceful Quilter 07-22-2011 05:06 AM

Oh, that one is on my to do list - I already have some of the fabrics! Yours is beautiful! If it is for a wall hanging, maybe leave it as it is, it for a small throw, add borders. Either way, it is a lovely quilt.

I agree. I love Bargellos and this is beautiful.

marykoch 07-22-2011 05:32 AM

I like borders on quilts but either way it is beautiful.

This sounds good to me. Or the first thin border could be white. Your quilt is beautiful. :D

Crafty1 07-22-2011 05:40 AM

Very pretty! I agree too, a border in light color.

Gatormom3 07-22-2011 05:54 AM

Gorgeous quilt! I agree a small dark border with a wider lighter border would finish it beautifully!

SoozeeDoozee 07-22-2011 05:56 AM

Beautiful fabrics. Brings the ocean indoors.

psychonurse 07-22-2011 05:56 AM

Beautiful.

Mariposa 07-22-2011 05:58 AM

It's gorgeous! I have a kit for that I need to do too~

mim 07-22-2011 05:59 AM

Now you have me thinking -- I was going to use it as a wall hanging.

I heard that the DH of a bridge playing buddy of my DH will be going for his first dialysis soon. It makes people very cold. So I think I will make it a lap/throw quilt for him

So I'm re-thinking layout

It's beautiful! I can see 2 borders....the first being the darkest blue you have in it and the 2nd a much larger border and in the blue that's next to the darkest. I do think it needs borders......

KwiltyKahy 07-22-2011 06:03 AM

Beautiful, a bargello is on my to do list. Hope mine comes out as nice

grannypat7925 07-22-2011 06:13 AM

Great job! I love the bargellos. Trying to get up the nerve here to try one. I did a scrappy bargello but it doesn't look anything like this!

joysewer 07-22-2011 06:17 AM

Very pretty!!

CristyK1 07-22-2011 06:43 AM

Oh my gosh, it's stunning. I love it. I can't wait to get my fabric to do mine.

Babs194068 07-22-2011 06:49 AM

I agree!

grammysharon 07-22-2011 06:58 AM

I think it needs a border to stop the eye. Just a plain border, light blue or something similar. :D

skowron5 07-22-2011 07:09 AM

I am going to try to make a pink breast cancer ribbon bargello. I need 21 pink fabrics from light to dark. I hope I can find enough different pinks. I have tried to find a selection on the internet, but there are some pinks that look peach when you put them side to side.

I live in a small town I may have to make a trip to a bigger city.

I am going to Madison, Wisconsin in September do they sell fabric there?

IdahoSandy 07-22-2011 07:09 AM

Since it is only 40 inches square, I would put both a frame and border. If you want it for a wall hanging, then just put a binding to pop the colors.

WOW that is beautiful.... those are my favorite colors.... I love it as is.

juliea9967 07-22-2011 07:40 AM

I think a border would really set it off. It is already beautiful, but a border would just sort of frame it.

ditto

sewmorethings 07-22-2011 08:54 AM

Awsome, i really like that either way you use it, would have to see border selection, can't visualize what they would look like.

I like this idea. It would frame it beautifully.

lovedquilts 07-22-2011 09:31 AM

very pretty, you need to add borders to frame it

Riverton Quilter 07-22-2011 10:00 AM

Do you have a place or use decided for quilt? It looks great without borders, but a border would be a great frame especially if you did a mitred border. Love your colors.

I agree - lovely lovely quilt.

sew1 07-22-2011 10:33 AM

Love those colors. I'm with a darker blue small border. Lay it out and see what you like.
