I finished the basic center of my wavy bargello WH. I am undecided about borders. None -- or add some. Right now it measures about 40" square. The first pix is in the upright position. I also took a sideways pix that I think I like better.

Opinions, please

Mim
It is from the Twist and Turn Bargello book

Oh, Child that is darling.

blueangel 07-21-2011 08:25 AM

It's beautiful

LisaGibbs 07-21-2011 08:28 AM

Looks like a peaceful day on the water somewhere. What a beautiful quilt.

Maggiesmom 07-21-2011 08:32 AM

The colors are beautiful and it is so calming. A light border might just make it pop.

quilter1430 07-21-2011 08:36 AM

Pretty quilt! I think it needs a border ... nothing elaborate. I think a dark blue 1" border would frame it nice and then a wider border with one of your light-colored blue fabrics, like maybe 4" wide? You did a wonderful job!

This would be my choice for borders as well.
Great job!

That was my thought exactly. Such a beautiful quilt. Great job. I agree with a small dark border, to stop the eye, and then a wider light border to give you more size.

I love your bargello in blues!
It's gorgeous! Please show us again when you get your border and binding completed!

agreed, either way would be gorgeous. I put on 8" borders just so I can have an outrageously quilted feathered border. But this is so gorgeous by itself without borders. And I can see it with a dark blue border being wonderful. Toss a coin

alikat110 07-21-2011 09:01 AM

Stunning!

tealfalcon 07-21-2011 09:03 AM

Beautiful I say wide navy border

eastermarie 07-21-2011 09:05 AM

Gorgeous quilt. I like the border ideas given above. It would frame your quilt very nicely.

KathyAire 07-21-2011 09:16 AM

Nice, I like the colors. Bargello is on my 'bucket list'.

Jim's Gem 07-21-2011 09:16 AM

Beautiful!!! I would add a border if it was my quilt!

lheartsl 07-21-2011 09:19 AM

a boarder..
I like boarders.... think it finishes it off....

btw.. beautiful!

Ann912 07-21-2011 09:24 AM

QuiltnNan 07-21-2011 12:43 PM

i'd like to see a dark border on it.

Nettie Phillips 07-21-2011 03:31 PM

That is gorgeous but I think I would put a border on to make
it pop.

nstitchs 07-21-2011 03:34 PM

I did a bargello and had the same thoughts as you but now that I have bordered it out it just seems to have finished it nicely so I vote for borders.

nativetexan 07-21-2011 03:34 PM

well is it to be a lap quilt or a wall hanging. if a lap quilt, i'd add borders to it for sure.

katier825 07-21-2011 03:48 PM

Beautiful!

I love how Eddie bordered his...2 borders different sizes, same color with a thin strip or flange between in a contrasting color. Looks like a matted framed piece of art!

Wow!

mom2boys 07-21-2011 04:22 PM

LOVE IT! I agree a dark blue border would look great

maryb119 07-21-2011 04:29 PM

Love it! I would add a narrow dark blue border or just bind in dark blue. It depends on how big you want it to be.

quiltingcousin 07-21-2011 04:34 PM

I'm on the "yes" do borders team. If it were mine I'd do two, smaller lighter one inside and larger darker one outside. It's absolutely fantastic. Now, gosh darn it , I've added yet another for the bucket list!

stacey65 07-21-2011 04:39 PM

wow super job

Judith1005 07-21-2011 05:14 PM

oh, it's beautiful. i vote for ending with a dark border to set off your beautiful work. is this a strip piece pattern? :-)

jillnjo 07-21-2011 05:16 PM

The blue bargello quilt is awesome!! I love it like it is, but a quilted border would add to it.

Ditto on that from me! Audition it and take some pictures... then you will be able to see. Beautiful!!!

DesiG 07-21-2011 05:32 PM

I made this very quilt :-) and I did the borders exactly as shown in the pattern- small dk blue, thin accent border, then larger dk blue- it really sets off the bargello. Yours is very pretty

Becca Bear 07-21-2011 05:43 PM

Very pretty! Love the blues!

QuiltnLady1 07-21-2011 09:02 PM

I agree -- two borders, narrow dark blue and a wider light blue.

Crlyn 07-21-2011 09:04 PM

Beautiful, with borders I think would be nice!

Vicki W 07-21-2011 09:43 PM

Beautiful, nice and peaceful

Donna P 07-21-2011 09:47 PM

Either way it will look beautiful.

jeanneb52 07-22-2011 03:09 AM

Wonderful! I vote for navy bordering

misscarol 07-22-2011 03:34 AM
