I finally finished my barn quilt, but still need to get it up on the barn. It is called Lady Godey's Book Block...saw the pattern in Sac county, IA. Thanks for looking.

OOOH!, I want to do one of those for my little barn. I saw so many of them in Ohio (Amish Country) when we visited my Sister in law. Love them. Yours is great. Maybe this weekend after the Quilt Show in Fort Worth. A good project for my husband!

When you pull up this link be sure to go to the chart on left side of page and click on Maysville quilt tour or something like that down towards bottom of chart. It's full of beautiful eye candy and good information. Barn quilts are not just for barns anymore. Thanks for the link.

Oh, Wow! Love the brightness, contrast. I may just have to drive to Polo, just to admire it in real time.

Beautiful. Quite detailed. Love your colors.

I still need to come up with one for the side of our garage as you can't see the barn from the road. I will eventually put one on the barn as I can see it from the deck.

Enjoy yours.

malega 09-29-2011 09:46 AM

It looks really nice! I don't have a barn, or even a shed, but I think I should hang a barn quilt on my back porch

I'm going to do a "fence quilt" in my backyard. Could you do something similar?

Ginger2010 09-29-2011 03:54 PM

LOVE!

What did you paint it on? What kind of wood or panel did you use and where did you get it? Did you paint the black around the edges, or, is that a trim board you put around it?

Thanks for being so awesome and answering all of our questions!

Suzanne

Hi, my dh picked out the wood but I believe it is plywood, but about 1/2 inch thick. I did paint the border, but some do add a frame like border to theirs. Wood came from home depot but could be any big store like that...they even cut it for us.

It is beautiful! Care to share details? Is your block painted on plywood? Did you apply a sealer when it was finished?

Highmtn 09-30-2011 05:22 AM

SOOO AWESOME! At one of our garden tours a few years back a woman had painted 4'x4' quilt block squares on her FENCE - around her hot tub. It was really neat!

Love Barn Art!

TacoMama 09-30-2011 05:23 AM

Love the barn quilt! I want to put one on my house, too!!!!
