The first word that came to mind is EXQUISITE!!!!

neece 11-25-2010 05:51 PM

This quilt reinforces the "born to quilt" I am so jealous of your skills. The hand quilting makes me get off this computer and practice hand quilting. :

Quiltylady 11-25-2010 05:53 PM

Your quilting is very beautiful as is the quilt. You are gifted, but as is the case of many gifts you worked to aquire it!

Truly beautiful!

gwanma 11-26-2010 12:20 PM

Incredible!!! Hard enough to do with machine but almost impossible to do by hand as far as I'm concerned. Why have you stopped doing pieced tops?

With that quilting ability, why bother with the piecing? (I think) <wave>

Just because I LOVE wholecloth quilts - an unpieced top is like a playground for me and it's always a big challenge to create the structures on it.
I like pieced and appliqué quilts, but I want to spend all my time in hand quilting.

mequilter 11-26-2010 01:08 PM

That is so pretty! I just love the handquilting that was done ono it!

Dawneda 11-26-2010 01:25 PM

i see...i always thought "quilting" meant putting all these little pieces together to form a blanket. But you have taught me that "quilting" can just be the process of creating a design with stitches. The quilting world just gets broader and broader for me. so fascinating! Your quilting is truly artwork.

Calico Grammy 11-26-2010 02:55 PM

Awesome Quilting. That old saying - "quilting makes the quilt" definitely fits here.

cbuchanan 11-26-2010 09:09 PM

Your quilting is unbelievable!!! It would take me a minimum of ten years to do just the feathers. What beautiful workmanship...

rona thickpenny 11-26-2010 11:40 PM

You hit the nail on the head! The word "quilting" is often meant like "making quilts" and it summarizes all the techniques used for it like piecing, appliqué, machine or hand quilting etc. For me the word "quilting" means doing all the little stitches through the layers of a quilt and creating structure and design.
It's a craft of it's own and can be used as an independend technique.
I know many quilters around here who consider the quilting as a necessity of sewing the layers of a quilt together. But it can be so much more! A quilter can put so much creativity in it.

auntbarb 11-27-2010 07:29 AM

MAGNIFICENT!!

Rann 11-27-2010 07:33 AM

You have the patience of a saint and the dedication of whatever (old age--can't think of a word). I wish I were a 100th as good as you at hand quilting.

Justmetoo 11-27-2010 07:54 AM

Borntohandquilt. I just noticed you have Schleswig-Holstein, Germany as location. I am a geneology (Family History) buff. Some of my ancestors are from Holstein, Germany. What a lovely surprise to actually meet someone (well kinda meet)from there. Some of the Holsteins arrived here in USA where Philadelphia, Pennsylvania now stands, in 1664. Some of the very founders of that area.

Oh, that is so interesting to hear! I was born in Niedersachsen (also a northern federal state of Germany) but I am living here for 16 years now and I love it.
I am very interested to hear more - if you are interested please send me a private message.

Your work just amazes me!! My attention span would give out LONG before I got to the end of the first spool of thread.
My hand quilting is limited to small projects, and I SO admire your work!!!

MamaBear61 11-27-2010 05:47 PM

That is beautiful.

yetta 11-27-2010 05:50 PM
