Thank you so much for this....it makes it so very clear. This is a pattern i've seen several times and have on my "to do soon" list. Love your quilt !!
Well I finally got one made ,I can't get my camera to upload photos on this site , but if you'd like to see it I have it listed on EBAY item # 271449835969 .I'm making a brown one next then a blue one . This pattern is SO easy to work with & I must admit I need to clean out a lot of my Batiks (only about 500 yards in 1 - 2 yard pieces , YES I am a fabric hoarder !I have a box of Batiks that are 5 " squares that has a few ( 3-4 ) thousand pieces in it .
Thank you for posting this. I have many blocks from an abandoned quilt (my daughter picked the fabrics and then didn't like the blocks :() . I think I will give this a try and donate it somewhere!
ive searched for something like this forever! thank you!

Love this pattern. Just finished one similar to this but it added HST in each row. I took the pattern into EQ7 to enlarge the block to 9" finished so my strips start out at 2". Here are my blocks and then the finished flimsy before quilting. Its on the frame right now getting finished.
My pattern came from Creative Log Cabin Quilting by House of White Birches.
I tried to order the pattern; it is no longer available :( Does anyone have a source for this pattern? I'd so love to try a quilt like this!
Very pretty blocks.

I love this quilt and have the pattern but was afraid to try it. I should have read it ! Your explanation makes it so much clearer and I am now hoping to finish one before Christmas. Thank you for sharing.
Sorry for the dumb question but how much material did you use for each colour and the finish will it fit single large bed?
ta cheers |
Been loving this pattern also but never could see well enough to figure it out. Really simple now that I see your diagram!! Thanks so much for your post!

Just wondering if you could use bigger strips, I have 31/2 inch strips that i wanted to use..... If any of you experts would like to let me know if these different strips sizes would work... colour 1 being a 3 1/2 square, colour 2 being a 3 1/2 square and a 3 1/2 x 7, colour 3 being 3 1/2 x 7 and 3 1/2 x 10 1/2 colour 4 being 3 1/2 x 10 1/2 and 3 1/2 x 14 colour 5 being 3 1/2 x 14 and 3 1/2 x 17 1/2 please let me know if my math is correct, or if you think that the changes will distort the pattern too much and I should cut down the strips i have to the original sizes listed. thanks in advance for your input Dee |
I'm not good at math, but just the beginning is wrong, I think. The halves are for the seam allowance so if your square is 3.5, the color 2 would be 3.5x6.5 (the 3x2=6+.5 seam allowance), etc. Try it that way.
How much fabric would I need for a full size quilt? I cannot find the pattern in print anywhere. Any ideas?

I love this Quilt pattern, and bought it! SO where were you when I needed you  I love your colors in this, it only gives the 'look' if you do it just so. 8-)
How nice of you to share! Your quilt is beautiful!
wonderful quilt
I have this pattern but will have to go digging I think. You have really cleared up my understanding of this pattern. I have been wanting to make it but I just don't know how to choose fabrics. Hopefully, my friend will go with me and help. She has a great eye for color. Thank you so much for the diagram.
Thank you for the directions ... color choices are outstanding!
pretty quilt....
I seen this finished quilt at Stone Soup Batiks and she had patterns as well..She ships really fast!
I really want to do one of these.

I did a quick mock up, but don't look too close....Can you tell me if it will pop the way yours did? Or least do you think the black/blue floral print is too much?
I think it works and will look great! The black/blue is not too much, in my opinion, and I love the solid black on the outside which, of course, will create the illusion. This quilt is going to be striking! |

ok..here's the 2nd color combo. Again, I did it in a hurry, so it is not straight on..like a real block! lol
so, what do you think now moreland? And anyone else who wants to chime in... Well......yes, maybe I do like this better. I think she was right about the solid blue; it did stop the eye. I like this block A Lot! Can't wait to see your finished quilt. |
That’s a pretty quilt!
Thank you for the information. The quilt is very strikingly beautiful. I can see that this pattern's dimension effect comes from fabric choice as well as pattern. It is a great project.
I love how this turned out!
Thank you very much for posting this. It is funny how seeing one block makes it easy to see how the pattern was designed. Your quilt is beautiful.
