I learned a few weeks ago that a friend of mine from years ago was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I made this quilt for him & learned some great tricks along the way. Spray adhesive is awesome! I was able to sandwich & machine quilt like a charm; no puckers & no pinning. I also learned to machine quilt with the feed dogs up, I just set the presser foot tension on low. Fast & easy. I made this quilt in one week & worked 40 hours @ my 'other' job.

Ok, first, lovely, lovely quilt!!! Such a treasure to be wrapped in that. :-D

Second, how do you do free motion with the presser foot tension on low?

Thanks for info.

Wonderful quilt and wonderful friend

norinedora 10-24-2010 06:06 AM

The pattern is "Zen" from better homes & gardens 'quilt lovers' favorites' book. Super easy. My machine is a 34 year-old viking, so if I dial the pressure foot all the way down I have control over the stitching. Maybe it's not possible on newer machines.

May I ask, which adhesive did you use. Seems like products don't all work the same so like to hear what others were successful with. LOve your quilt.

ladyshuffler 10-24-2010 09:47 AM

Beautiful quilt you made for your friend, so sorry to hear about his illness. I also use the spray adhesive on everything...from the beginning actually, for the same reasons no puckers or pinning. I would be interested to learn more from you about how you machine quilt with the feed dogs up...also how you adjust the presser foot tension.

:-)
