bebe 07-17-2008 07:58 PM

Thanks Melissa that is probably going to be a 2 yr project because it takes a long time to make some of those blocks. I love Christmas and wanted to make this applique quilt

I love your sewing room!!! I am sooo anxious to get my own sewing room now. I have seen some wonderful ideas from everyone who has shared photos of their sewing rooms. First of all, I need my house (if all goes well I will have that before Christmas.. THEN I will get my dream sewing studio/classroom built!!!)

oooooooooh I love your pink and brown log cabin quilt!!!! I always loved that quilt style!

quiltwoman 07-18-2008 04:00 AM

Bebe,
your x-mas blocks are going to make one beautiful quilt! I like the fabrics you chose.

Knot Sew 07-18-2008 04:24 AM

I like the Tulip farm and the dear Jane blocks... Do you use stabiliser under them ? Great projects

reneebobby 07-18-2008 04:55 AM

Bebe your pictures just amaze me. I think in your one set of birthday blocks the cat looking out the window is the Bomb. You are going to have some real pretty quilts there. I do have a question though, how hard are the Dear Jane blocks? Are you machine or hand piecing? Also are you using all the same background fabric? On the website it said machine was 8 yds, but really 15yds. Just wondering.

bebe 07-18-2008 04:58 AM

Thanks you ladies for you coming to take a peek at my sewing room and projects.

Maggiebooboo I wanted you to see Lucinda so that pic was for you.

QAggi thanks for the comp. glad you liked my brown and pink log cabin quilt.

Ruth I do not use stabilizer I just pin it well to my backing fabric and do needle turn applique. Tulip farm has been a wip for awhile I work on it when I do not feel like usingthe machine or I take a project along to somewhere I cannot take my machine. i am slowly making my dear Jane blocks.

Renee some of the Dear Jane blocks are hard I have started with some of the simpler ones . I piece by machine the ones I can and have done needle turn and reverse applique on a few. I am using a line of fabric I had that had several pieces. You can make a scrappy one and use light color backgrounds and what ever fabric you have. The original one was made with civil war fabrics but I have seen many done the quilters way. Check out he book and take a adventure at making one.The catblock was done by my friend Nellie who belongs to my Birthday swap and she designedthat one for me since I love cats.

Quiltwoman yes I have been appliquing the Christmas blocks since last year. I work on them occasionally and that is why they are taking me so long. That is one of my WIP.

Minda 07-18-2008 05:22 AM

Bebe, Thanks for sharing your pictures. Your quilts are BEAUTIFUL. Where did you find the yellow basket with the handles?

I love Lucinda - she's beautiful. Looks like she's ready for the yellow brick road to Oz. Please show us some more of your ragdoll collection.

reneebobby 07-18-2008 05:27 AM

Thanks Bebe,

I'm getting the book but don't have yet since I haven't gone to moms to pick it up for my birthday. I joined the civil war fat quarter club, so I plan on using those. I just don't want to go out and buy 15yds. of fabric for the back ground but who knows really what I'll do till I get my book. Your blocks look really good too. I really do know i'll have to start out with the easy blocks since I'm still in squares and rectangles.

vicki reno 07-18-2008 05:41 AM

Its so neat! Mine is so messy. I have to really clean up tomorrow. Mine is to the point where I have almost as much fabric out of the closet as I do in it  And its a big closet :!: I have so little time to work on projects that it seriously cuts into that if I was to pick up. If I could just learn to pick up as I go, it wouldn't be so bad, but that's for another lifetime. I love your quilts so pretty!

bebe 07-18-2008 05:43 AM

Hi Minda I have had my yellow basket for years. I am not sure where it came from. Sorry to be of no help.
My other rag dolls are not as refined as Lucinda she was hand made by a lady who only makes dolls and the others are premanufactured but I still ove them When my friends comes over againi will ask her to take pics of them. I have a African doll that is next in line to Lucinda and I really love her also. Black rag dolls are my favorite.Glad you liked my quilts and projects.

Thanks Vick for stopping by.

Renee make sure you get the CD and rulers for Dear Jane. If you need help let me know I go to a quilt shop where they help me with my blocks and i can get answers for you.You can also use quality muslin foryour project or just buy a few light Fatq's at a time. It takes very little fabric to make a block.

reneebobby 07-18-2008 05:52 AM

Cool thanks for the info I wasn't planning on getting that stuff but I will now.

PuffinGin 07-18-2008 06:55 AM

Bebe,

Your blocks from birthday swap groups and others you have made are wonderful. I especially love the Tulip Farms appliqued ones. TKS for posting them.

Your applique is awesome. I love the Tulip Farm and the Christmas blocks. Cannot wait for you to post pics of them when you are done.

bebe 07-18-2008 08:07 PM

Thanks Marcia for the comp. I like to do applique on occasion and that is why it is taling me a lomg while to complete these 2 quilt tops.

Blue Bell 07-22-2008 05:05 PM

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! Love your applique blocks and can't wait to see the whole quilt. Some day, I hope to try my hand at a similar project.

Right now I am in the middle of making blocks so there are scraps, thread on the flloor. I also have took out several totes I am working out of. You would not want to saee it right now it is messy!!!!!

Feathers 07-25-2008 04:11 AM

Bebe: I really love your quilts. The colors are so nice and vibrant and crisp. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Your sewing room is very, very nice. Looks like everything is very conveniently arranged and organized. Where do you store your STASH? Like everyone else, the shoe bag idea is genious. I love it and my have to adopt your idea.

Someday I may take a picture of my office/sewing room to share but it won't be any time soon. It's a MESS most of the time as I have a dozen things happening in it everyday. Like yours, it's small so anything not put away looks 10 times worse than it actually is! Happy sewing!
