I am going to use this as a block for a virtual quilting bee I am in - I am using fabric from the Moda line "Just Wing It" in reds, blues, greens. Do you think the black (it's really Kona Pepper) is too much? Any other ideas for the solid?

Hobbyhorse1027 01-13-2011 08:58 PM

I don't see a picture.

hperttula123 01-13-2011 08:59 PM

cjomomma 01-13-2011 09:01 PM

I agree, it looks fabulous!

bjchad 01-13-2011 09:58 PM

I like the black. Think you could also use a deep wine red/purple. Or a deep green. But the black works really well.

nana katie 01-13-2011 10:38 PM

Beautiful , keep the black.

QM 01-13-2011 10:40 PM

I like it. You could audition a charcoal grey for slightly less contrast, if you are uncomfortable with this.

Carron 01-13-2011 10:41 PM

the black is a keeper.

luvTooQuilt 01-13-2011 10:55 PM

Makes it pop.. Looks good..

mmonohon 01-13-2011 10:57 PM

The black makes the block look very modern. Very nice.

EasyPeezy 01-14-2011 12:06 AM

I like the black. You did a nice job on that block. Which method did you use?

maine ladybug 01-14-2011 05:55 AM

I like the black, but to be honest, I think I would use brown. Just my opinion.

Very striking! Beautiful with the black.

BizzieLizzie 01-14-2011 06:53 AM

It is a beautiful block. I personally like the combination. I am working on a quilt with black shashing and I am enjoying the way it looks! So call me biased if you wish but I do like your block!

yolanda 01-14-2011 10:20 AM

I used a pattern from Allison Designs called "Crinsom Rambler" - basiclly it's like making a modern wonky star block.

Wow thanks for all the votes - sounds like black is the winner. I thought of brown but when I put it up to the fabrics it didnt do much for me. My son is suggesting ummm...yellow... he said it's pleasing to the eye and that is why they use it for movie subtitles (uh ok) so I will make one just for kicks and post it.

starshine 01-14-2011 10:24 AM

I like the black.

Thanks. I like the no paper-piecing kind.

LivelyLady 01-14-2011 11:15 AM

Striking!! I love it!

needles3thread 01-14-2011 02:55 PM

I would think about charcoal gray. Try it and see.
