I finally finished my blue jean circle quilt. For the quilts I have done I had to borrow my sisters sewing machine. Mine weren't working. Part way through this quilt the zig zag stitch quit working. Looked like a washer or something dry rotted so I used plastic template to sit in the area where the washer should have been to finish sewing the rest of this quilt. The quilt is around 6' x 6' and this one is mine :D

I Love that pattern!! I'm getting ready to make one using JD prints in the center for DS or DD.

WOW!! Your quilt is wonderful. You have done a great job making it. Thank you for sharing with all of us!!
:D :D :D :D |
Great quilt
WOWZERS!! I LOVE that quilt!
Really like the heart! Is the plaid flannel?
Oh what a great pattern!
I love the way you have done this!!! I learnt this method last year but didnt know what fabrics to do it in, I ended up laying my squares out to make a handbag LOL - I make a lot of those. But I now have been inspired!! Thank you.
Wow! You took a neat technique and turned it into a really special quilt! Love the heart, and the combo of flannel plaids and denim. Way to go!
BTW did you use flannel or batting in the middle? |
yes the plaid is flannel. From my dad's, my ex's and my son's flannel shirts.
Thanks everyone for the compliments. I designed the heart pattern myself on graph paper once I had all the squares cut out to see what I had to work with. |
Lokks great. Nice job.
What a stunning design!!! I love it :D:D:D
no I didn't use flannel or batting in the middle.
spectacular! I love it! It even appears to have a pattern within the pattern, like a diamond in the middle by choice of fabrics. Very impressive!
Kind Regards, MaryAnna |
Very pretty, good use of old blue jeans and flannel shirts. Did you enjoy making it? I made one and swore I wouldn't do another.
How neat!! I love it! :D
Very attractive!
How much do you think it weighs??? Might I ask ... are the orange peel parts raw-edged? Or did you do the circle thing and turn? (I vaguely remember the pattern <g>) this is the first time I actually considered making one! (At the Post I am known as the Denim Lady - -if I don't own rolls of the stuff, I accept donations <g>) |
Olivia's Gramy -- Yes I did make the same comment. something like "this is the only one of these I will do" ...lol
I did enjoy making it, but sewing the rows together was a little tricky. lol I felt like I had been in a tug of war with a monster. But I did figure out an easier way to sew the rows together after about 3 rows.. I really enjoyed it after I finished it and it all came together like I wanted it to. :o) |
omack -- not sure how much it weighs. and the orange parts aren't raw edges the flaps of the circle are folded over then sewn.
Thanks again for the nice compliments. Carol |
So pretty. I love your quilt.
All I can say is WOW... that is really awesome....love the heart
Really nice--one thing you can say about the quilt is when you get the last row sewn on you are done--no quilting or tying and binding to do.
Great looking quilt!
Love it - very inspiring! :D

Wonderful. I like the heart shape design. I have printed off a tute for doing a blue jean circle quilt.
Beautiful!! Love it!!
Beautiful!!
It's a knockout....you have done a terrific job with this.
Thanks everyone!!! :o)
Did I happen to ask - - which size of circle would you recommend for the project?
i like how you made the heart stand out, very pretty
omak -- I used a plastic gal ice cream lid around 8" in diameter. I think the site where I got my idea from used a 6" diameter circle. I wanted bigger squares in the middle so chose the bigger size plus that way I didn't have to make a 6" template. The squares on mine are a little shy of being 6". I hope this helps. I would suggest to make sure you cut on the line you draw around your template, save you from having to go back and trim them up later. Good luck!!
The smaller circles might be easier to work with but since mine was around 6' x 6' just worked better for me. |
I have all the squares cut but not the middles, I love the color pattern of yours. Nice job...................
Denise, Thank you! On mine the squares are the middles.
I love it! It looks so soft and cozy!
Nice.
