OK I am fixing my boo boo quilt--the wavy borders are gone. Two new borders are on and I have decided on a corner setting stone. Which one do you prefer? Opinons please.

I like the bottom one better.

How about a cornerstone of the red that you have in one of the inner borders?

Tell us what you did to fix the waviness of the borders - I can use the help.

Prism99 06-29-2010 02:27 PM

I don't think it needs a corner setting stone but, of the two pictures you provided, I definitely prefer the top one.

Isn't a cornerstone typically the width of the border?

Edit: Oh, I see that it's a block. I thought at first just the white square was the cornerstone.

Laura1557 06-29-2010 02:27 PM

I like the top one but like the idea of the red too.

JanieW 06-29-2010 02:27 PM

Your quilt is beautiful. I love the border fabric.

Have you thought about making the white square in the cornerstone of the outer border the same size as the square in the inner border... the one made out of the rust print?

Once again, that is one gorgeous quilt.

Janie

I could redo it with red but trying to stay with the brown.

Basically I took the borders off. I measured three times to get an accurate size of the quilt and all three times were the same #. OK then I cut my border to size and sewed it on--took me forever as the pieced border is a lot of bias which means I had to ease the pieced border to fit the outter border. Two more to go.

thimblebug6000 06-29-2010 02:28 PM

Could you make a 4 patch with the lights & dark instead with the dark squares lining up on the diagonal with the inner dark large square?

franie 06-29-2010 02:29 PM

Yes the cornerstone is the same size of the outter borders-- 4 1/2". The one border is just laying there.

No don't want a four patch or plain block. I was just wondering where the white looked the best.

Thank you.

LeslieSkelly 06-29-2010 02:31 PM

Bottom one!

GrammaNan 06-29-2010 02:31 PM

I am so glad that were able to fix the border and that you didn't fold it up and stick it in the back of the closet or something similar. It is a beautiful quilt and whatever you decide will be wonderful.

Jim's Gem 06-29-2010 02:32 PM

I like the second one best!

bearisgray 06-29-2010 02:34 PM

What if you made the white square the size of the corner? to reflect the one in the border inside it?

Pam 06-29-2010 02:35 PM

I had to look a couple of times to see the red in the cornerstones, it looks very similar to the brown fabric. How about making the entire cornerstone out of the red print? It sure would be a lot easier.

CarrieAnne 06-29-2010 02:35 PM

I like the second one best. Its a great quilt!

Fiber Artist 06-29-2010 02:51 PM

#2 very pretty quilt

Might be an idea to think about, but otherwise I like the second one.

pollyjvan9 06-29-2010 03:18 PM

Definitely the bottom one.

2wheelwoman 06-29-2010 03:49 PM

bottom one is my favorite

sewnsewer2 06-29-2010 03:53 PM

Love the quilt and I like #1 setting but I think it should be bigger, it looks off being so small.

nativetexan 06-29-2010 03:59 PM

yep, the bottom one is best.

candlequilter 06-29-2010 04:00 PM

Wow I love your fabric and colors. I like the top block option best, it makes my eyes gently move around the corner. Would love to see the rest of it.

clem55 06-29-2010 04:35 PM

No opinions except that the quilt looks beautiful!

lab fairy 06-29-2010 04:44 PM

I like the second one best.

franie 06-29-2010 04:46 PM

Well I could do that but I think I will stick to the block I have. Still taking consensus as to which way the white is prefered. Thinking once it is bound the white block in the corner outside will look the best.

I had posted about a week ago the complete quilt with the wavy borders. I think the headline was something with boo boo in it. I will post another pic after I finish the top and before I quilt it.

So you are saying you don't like the pieced corner stone block? You think it should be solid?

I think the corner of the inner border should be like the other squares and the outer border plain.

I agree that the binding will "finish" off the little white square in the outer border but I don't think it needs the little white square. It tends to draw my eye away from the beautiful blocks and fancy pieced inner border. The final border is the frame for a beautiful quilt and gives the eyes a chance to rest before being drawn back into the beautiful blocks and pieced inner border.

franie 06-29-2010 05:00 PM

Good points. I am thinking on that one.

I like it, I just think it is too small.

bearisgray 06-29-2010 05:17 PM

The quilt is beautiful. The fancy border inside the last border is awesome.

Both of the little white squares look "too little/annoying/off" to me.

But I can't quite explain why. I think it might be that they are small in proportion to the corner square in the fancy border right inside that last border.

franie 06-29-2010 05:19 PM

You may be right. Ok I think I might try something dif. now --this is why I came here with my dilemma.

denilynne 06-29-2010 05:22 PM

I like the second one best, beautiful colors

wesing 06-29-2010 05:31 PM

Fran -

I like the white to the inside - what I can see of your quilt is beautiful.

Darren

SuziC 06-29-2010 05:37 PM

I like it better without the cornerstone but if i had to pick, it would be the top one

debbieumphress 06-29-2010 06:15 PM

Beautiful quilt. To answer your question...I like number 2. Glad you were able to correct your boo boo LOL

annette1952 06-29-2010 06:22 PM

I think the bottom one looks best
