Which border should I choose
3 Attachment(s)
Thanks to Rhonda, I figured out how to get a pic of my quilt top loaded as a single block so I could then use that to audition different pieced borders. I couldn't re-create this quilt top in EQ7 - it had to be done with a photo of the top. Thanks Rhonda! So ... which border do we like the best. BTW - I know the one with the flying geese has different size geese, I'm not worried about that. I'm just looking for what scheme looks the best.
Thanks! |
I really like the third one.
None of them, they all detract from the quilt. Use a medium sized floral instead. Or black (like background) with accents of the darkest red/pink.
First or third. I think the third one has more pizazz.
I like the third one, think the darker edge keeps the border from competing with the center
i would also opt for the 3rd! :)
I like #3 the best, but I also agree with yourstrulyquilts, it seems to distract from the gorgeous center.
I definitely like a border with the black, so the 3rd one. Though I do agree that it has the potential to detract from the quilt
I like the third one. really makes it stand out. joyce j
I like three better, however I have to go along with the others that they all distract from your beautiful center.
I can visualize the border striped in two color with thin black strip on the inside, then two colors, then wider black strip on the outside (like a frame design). That would frame the beautiful piece and accentuate two of your color choices, without distraction. I'll be watching what you decide!
I also agree that all 3 distract from the lovely quilt.
I think they all take away from the quilt.. good luck! the quilt is great!

I like the third, but think the border is too big, or choose something other than these colors. It needs to be toned down
The third one.
I think the third looks the best; however I think it also distracts from the main bodyof the quilt. It draws my eye away from the center and the center of the quilt is to interesting to want that to happen.
I think they all compete with the center that you worked so hard on.
I think the first is a little harsh on your center. The second is a little too busy for your center. I vote for the 3rd choice.
Why don't you try a small border of Beige then Black border. The focus is on the center that way.
I agree with yourstrulyquilts; they all distract from your beautiful fractured bouquet! I'd use a solid.
I, too, like the third best. I would choose colors/shades that didn't detract from the beautiful center. You did such wonderful work that it should look like a framed centerpiece
Mim |
I also prefer #3 but my first thought was all borders were too busy and takes viewers eyes away from the focal point of the beautiful flowered center.
I like the third option.
I prefer the first. It's simplicity does not distract from the beautiful quilt

Thanks everyone. I'm sold. I agree all of them were detracting a bit so I went back to the drawing board and put in narrow light yellow border then a wide black border and POP!!!
The third one is the best but it really draws a way from the center. Maybe solid colors would be better.
I like #3 best but was curious what it would look like if you flipped the border so the black was on the inside.

Sorry, I didn't read through all the comments to see that last option. I like the 4th one with the more solid black and narrow light. Good choice! |
Absolutely love the black and yellow border. really frames your center. Beautiful Job. The other three were pretty, but did detract from the awesome center.
I agree with cjackaitlin.

I don't care for any of them. They are too busy for your center and take away from the fractured look. IMHO a solid, simple border would best complement your work.
Yes, I agree with choice #3. It compliments your beautiful quilt perfectly!
I like the darker colors but I think a simpler design is called for. maybe just a couple of borders to frame with out piece work.
actually i tend to like the third one too since it's very different and seems to look better with your fracture quilt.
I like number three - the colors chosen for your EQ program are not the true colors to be used, am I right? So, ignoring colors and looking at design only, I choose 3. and, now that I've seen option # 4 - I like that the best!!!
I like the first one because it is simple and bold, leaving the focus on the center.
Oh dog house mom! That picture is so beautiful. It is so soft and then your eyes go to the stark lines of the border. Please go softer on the border! I just love it.
I really like the third one.
