I am trying to decide between the dark brown on the left side and the black with stars on the right side. After the dark border comes the pink border which will have an embroidered saying on it and then a 6 1/2" off white border which will have applique on it. Then I am not sure after that...still thinking. This is the quilt that some of you talked me into prewashing my fabric first which I never usually do. Thanks for helping me decide.

I like the one on the right, with the dots. It pops more to me
And PS, love the avatar
I think I would go for the dark brown. The quilt top looks very lovely. Yummy, like chocolate covered cherries.
Another vote for the border on the right....

I vote for the left side. The quilt should pop, not the border IMHO.
I like the one on the left.
5 for right side - 4 for left side......
Guess I will toss a coin......LOL |
I like the one on the left too...
Tie Game!!
left side border goes with the fabrics in the quilt better.
The right side!
Personally I would use the right side because it pops more BUT if YOU want the quilt to stand out more use the left.
Personally I like my borders bright. |
Dots definitely
I like the one on the right with the dots best
My vote goes to the right side
Dots!!!
I like the dots
I like the polka dot print better. Makes it pop :)
My vote goes to the left. It disappears and draws my eyes to your lovely quilt.
Pretty quilt :D:D:D
I think the one on the right is a bit busy and I notice it more than the quilt itself... |
I like the one on the right, it makes everything pop!
I agree, the black with the dots, as it caught my eye 1st.
I'm not going to be much help, I LOVE the one on the right!!!
I definitely like the left side better. Sometimes pop works for me, and sometimes not. This time it doesn't.
I read some replies--and agree with amma. |

The solid!! It makes your quilt work dstand out more. Beautiful job!!
Brown, but what do you say?
I like the one on the right--the inner boarder helps it pop. Thanks for involving us in your design dilemma--It's interesting to see how people are viewing it. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Thanks everyone. I cut both borders, pinned one to each side and still cannot decide. Guess I will close my eyes and pick one. Don't know why I just can't decide......

left side

Well, I think I am going to go off the beaten path here. I would use a thin border of the dots, a bit bigger of the brown and then wider on the pink & off white. Told you it was off the path. What will the applique be? Loved the fact that you prewashed the fabric. Good luck. Hope this helped somewhat.

Forgot to share what I am sure will make some of you laugh out loud. Because I never prewash and decided to try this time - each piece of fabric I use is first measured and I allow for shrinkage, washed and ironed - remeasured and cut to size needed. So it is slow going. I do not want a bunch of prewashed fabric mixed in with my not washed fabric so....... Imagine I need one piece 1 1/2 " by 20" - I measure, cut and wash, dry and iron, measure and cut each and every time... LOL This quilt is a test to see if prewashing is in my future or not.

The right.

I agree with Candace! I was leaning toward the right, just because I liked the fabric with stars, but after I read Candace say, the quilt not the border should pop, I took another look! Yes, I agree with Candace!
