You are right, you did get lucky.

Lucky is an understatement. My Golden Retriever decided to eat 1/2 of my Bacardi Rum Cake one year at Christmas time (it was a little to close to the edge of the table) when we went out for a few minutes. That was nothing compared to
what you would have felt if your GD had gotten to the middle of your quilt !!! |
Boy, can I relate. We have TWO Golden puppies that are almost 7 months old. They can reach anything, are curious beyond belief and are very food motivated AND they are still puppies. We have them in classes, use a personal trainer once a week and they are very well behaved, however, they are still puppies and lose their minds occasionally. I have my sewing room gated off for that very reason. Too many things they can destroy, or can destroy them. They will grow up, they will grow up, they will grow up LOL

Living with cats and their problem of not being able to spit anything but pills out of their mouths, let me gently suggest that you keep an eye on what goes into and comes out of that Great Dane.
If the dog ate what seems like a significant volume of the tree skirt, you might consider giving your vet a call and asking what to do to "help things along." I can tell you that cats CAN safely take stool softeners. But, that's cats and your vet would absolutely be the place to ask technical questions. Mine has been together with us so long he doesn't turn a hair at off the wall questions on the phone. Since I do not want to risk offending, let me wish you a Happy New Year a bit early. Pat |
Dogs will be dogs...Good think it was not tasty...
