Braid Quilt for Hostess ready to go!
3 Attachment(s)
This quilt was made for friends who are hosting us for a week. The pattern is Eleanor Burns' Braid and the fabrics are Stonehenge by Northcott. The batting is Quilter's Dream Green Batting. It was long arm quilted locally with stars to go with the eagle fabric which is the lighter beige. These folks live in the Pacific NW and an eagle dips down in the neighborhood lake once in awhile to catch lunch!! We are hoping they like it. Sorry the pictures aren't better. I'll have to learn how to do it with a camera instead of a phone! The "lump" at the top is part of the porch rail! Thanks for checking this out! If it had a name, it would probably be "Homesick," because I'm homesick for the place we lived for 18 years and this has all the colors and reminders of that great area!

I adore your quilt! It's a great way to use braids. Perfect colors! Bravo!

I sure do like this quilt! The colors are great and the design is wonderful. Thanks for including the fabric line that you used because I would love to do a quilt like this. Oh and I see you live in Ocala, FL. Did you move there from the PNW? What a shock to the system that must have been!!! I lived in Ocala for 7 months but could not take the heat. Beautiful horse country though. We lived near Silver Springs.
|
So beautiful. Love the soft colors.
|
Beautiful quilt....would you like to come to the Finger Lakes of NY?
|

|
Goodness! I'd host you for longer than a week for this beauty. Super job on a beautiful quilt!

Beautiful quilt. You picked great fabrics for the pattern.
|
Thanks for the kind responses! I did not expect this many!! So, it looks like I'm going to Louisiana and the Finger Lakes? :D :D
KLO, we are three miles from Silver Springs and our well water is from that aquifer. We have lived here twice before and only back to take care of my 84 year old Mom. The summers are brutal, but that's when I quilt. We left our son and DIL in Seattle. :( Beautiful horses and rolling green farms here. Hope you like your new area better. |
Lovely colors, a perfect hostess gift............
|
Beautiful quilt and gift!

|
So pretty, I love the colors you chose!

Beautiful quilt! We happen to be neighbors. I have not been to Ocala yet, but plan to visit your quilt shops soon.

I love this quilt! I think Stonehenge fabrics are so beautiful & they are perfect for this pattern! Your friends certainly are lucky to get such a wonderful gift!! I'm sorry you're homesick, tho I understand. I miss living in KS & get really homesick for the flat expanses of landscape. If you'd like to visit WI & see all the eagles we have here, I'll take a quilt just exactly like this beauty... LOL! |
This is a beauty of a quilt - now your friend will be "the hostess with the mostest". Lucky her. I know what you mean about missing the NW - I grew up there and miss it a lot!!
|
What a wonderful gift for the hostess. I am sure it will be cherished forever! It's beautiful.
|
It is lovely!

A very nice host gift for your friends and a beautiful job by you. Love the stonehenge fabrics and they all compliment each other. Thanks for sharing

We are now in NC and it's been brutal here this summer but that heat in FL is just so much stronger. Since I am originally from the northeast, I guess I just don't handle it very well. (We lived on NE 2nd Street in Ocala.) And I have to get out of the house now and then especially to attend my quilt group meetings. And darn if we don't have something else in common!!! My middle son lives in Seattle!!!! How's that for a co-incidence? |
Very pretty quilt! Lovely colors!
