You can use lighter, but, I love this. I was looking at the blocks and all of a sudden out came the chain. I think it is perfect.

There are 10 blocks across, 3 squares (across) in each block, 30 squares (across) total times 3" finished block equal 90" across.

30 X 3 = 90

Using 2.5 unfinished squares the quilt would be 60" across.
