Challenging myself.

I love quilts as much as the next quilter and I buy as many books. So my 2014 challenge to myself is to start making at least 1 quilt from each book that I have not used. And if possible not buy any fabric in the process. Here are my first 2 quilts. This is harder than I thought.

smagruder 06-25-2014 02:22 AM

I love the first one like crazy. The second one, I cannot imagine how difficult it was to make. You are an excellent quilter. Congratulations.

ladysuds 06-25-2014 02:25 AM

They are beautiful! I know exactly what you are saying about having all those books and not doing anything out of them. I cancelled all of my subscriptions because it appears I just hoard books.. I love your quilts..

Fabulous quilts. The leopard quilt is awesome.

yadroc 06-25-2014 02:38 AM

You are on to a good thing. These quilts are fantastic. I am sure it is very satisfying to make a deal with yourself and stick to it. Keep up the good work.

Your first 2 quilts? Amazing, gorgeous and encouraging to keep up with quilting. I love them both. Your are right on with your new challenge to make a quilt from each book that you already own! Bravo.

Your quilts are gorgeous! What a challenge to give yourself. I wasn't buying anymore magazines or books, but then we moved back from Germany 2 weeks ago and I went a little crazy! But I'm stopped again. Just waiting on our stuff to arrive and then I can start challenging myself like you have! Great work!! 👍

Homespun 06-25-2014 04:05 AM

Fantastic Job on both!

Love the pop of yellow in the leopard quilt. Love the first one. Oh heck, I love both of them. What books did you use? The quilting is super. BrendaK

Wow amazing quilts! I think that is a daunting challenge!

nabobw 06-25-2014 04:34 AM

lovely quilts

sharisews 06-25-2014 04:37 AM

Great Quilts. And I like your idea with the books. I often think when I receive a quilt magazine I should sew at least one top from that issue…but no I just keep looking at eye candy. I usually make baby quilts for friends and family and mystery quilts.

toverly 06-25-2014 04:39 AM

Beautiful! I love them both! It is so hard to not buy fabric. I have given it a try and I almost always have to go buy a blender or neutral. You have chosen a noble challenge! I'm not quite there yet but I have resolved myself to using the Guild books and not buying them. Good Luck on your challenge, be sure to post your progress.

laurafet 06-25-2014 04:45 AM

Lady Jane 06-25-2014 06:57 AM

Holy cow, these are great.

KwiltyKahy 06-25-2014 07:04 AM

These are outstanding. What a great self challenge. I thought it would be a good idea to make myself finish some of the ones I have started and post pictures here. I'm not doing so well with that, so I've decided to start purging all those books (and rulers and fabric) that I am sure I will never get to.

josie bass 06-25-2014 07:22 AM

your quilts are beautiful, you are truly talented. That first pattern looks very hard, and the second one is my favorite. Always wanted to go to africa, but I am to old now to make it. Keep up the good work and so far your rewords are wonderful.Josie
