This is what I've been working on this weekend. It was started back in May when half the blocks were assembled. Life threw me a curve, and now I've decided this has to get done sooner than later.

Finished 40 blocks and assembled it as you see here in the pic from Friday till now. Is this looking like a bargello of some sort? Had to label each row to make sure it was sewn in the right order. Sounds familar? Well, it was a pleasure to make because I have a wonderful friendship with Debbie and I thought this would be a perfect gift for her birthday.

This is the same pattern I made for my daughter only hers is purple and black. I've attached photos to show how color can make all the difference of ANY pattern.
And there are 1280 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" squares in Debbie's quilt.

What do you think so far?

Beautiful!!
Was that the multi-colored butterfly fabric?
Using it with the solid squares ==== genius.

Your comment about how different the same pattern can look is right on. If there was only one pattern in the world every quilt would still be differnt. Both quilts are great!

MargeD 05-30-2011 04:51 PM

Great job, you were a very busy woman. I loved the colors in the first quilt - so bright and cheerful. It's amazing what black can do to a quilt. My husband loves the Amish quilts and they are very striking quilts.

bjolly 05-30-2011 04:59 PM
