What fun to read the responses--you can pretty much tell our ages by those "who did this year's ago" and those who never heardHof it. I never did it, but my sister did several items at 4-h projects back in the early 50's.

That is so pretty, I tried to do this last year but had a hard time finding cotton gingham, and decent patterns. I made a small pillow tho. Maybe I will try it again after seeing your quilt

Love your chicken scratch. I used to do pillows with chicken scratch, but have forgotten how now. I found a pillow that I did in pink gingham. I think I gave it to Goodwill.

Here is one of my favorite sites.
http://www.pegasusor.com/chicinst.html Oh, look. I've found another and it has a free pattern for the star as well as directions as to how to do chicken scratch. http://www.ca.uky.edu/HES/fcs/FACTSHTS/CT-MMB-712.pdf Try using google and ask for "chicken scratch embroidery images". There are lots and lots of examples. |

I made a little pillow when I was learning how to do this, it is so easy to do, looks harder than it is and it's something to do when you are watching TV.
