Beautiful job, and beautiful quilt!!!
My grandmother used to do chicken scratch embroidery back in the late 60's and early 70's. I hadn't seen any since then, but yours is wonderful. |
Yvonne, that is the same pattern only the star looks smaller, my friend has done one with the smaller star, they all are so pretty. I am having trouble finding the gingham here in Texas. Thanks for the infro. Everyone is so helpful. We only have one Joann's and one Hancock's and they are about 40 miles from where I live, and to top that of they are in two differant cities. Not to worry that don't stop me,lol.

Willie Mae your work is gorgeous (and I love your name!). I learned to do this when I was at school, but my Nan called it Teneriffe Embroidery. Haven't thought to do it, 'til now...will have to look through my stash for that pile of gingham!

That is so neat! My Mom used to do that, I never learned how, but she did several things with it. Including aprons. She put one in the Fair and took a 1st. place.

I did do some many years ago. Very nice!!!

Now I want to try it! :) So many 'wants', so little time. Thanks so much for posting this! Have bookmarked it so I won't forget. :) |
Yours is very nice. I remember Chicken Scratch my granny did lots of it, but I never tried it. Love the gingham.
