Christmas larks

3 Attachment(s)
I finally made a Christmas quilt after years of wanting to make one. The pictures are pretty poor, and the top does look better "in person." This is another first for me, this being the very first quilt I've ever made without "unsewing" a stitch! Not that it's perfect! Now I have to figure out how to quilt it. I'd like to have it done by Christmas, so that means machine quilting. I haven't practiced for awhile and feel pretty intimidated. I've had such fun putting the top together, but I hope I don't get discouraged with the quilting part of it. The last picture is a Christmas dress I made for a darling granddaughter. (It is if I can get the pictures to load!) What color thread would you use?

Just gorgeous. Congratulations on making a quilt that didn't require ripping (laughter). It is lovely and will decorate your home cheerfully. The dress is simply precious and lovely. What a talent you have there. Thank you for sharing these treasures.

Pretty projects!

What an absolutely wonderful job you did on both. I recognized your quilt fabrics.....and when I viewed it, I was called to my stash, where both of your block fabrics reside. I too couldn't resist them. Too many projects for this year, but perhaps next year they will come to the top of the stack. Your little granddaughter is going to be the talk of your holiday in this gorgeous dress. Stellar job and kudos to you!

wonderful work on both of them!

sandyo 11-15-2011 04:18 AM

It is a beautiful quilt, You could just meander the quilting. It does not need anything fancy, Love the dress can't wait to have grandchildren to sew for.

Becky Crafts 11-15-2011 04:25 AM

If you're asking about thread color for the quilt, I think I'd use a golden colored thread to fade into the detail it already has. It's beautiful! Good job on both items!

Beautiful job on both...... gold thread ???

BizzieLizzie 11-15-2011 05:35 AM

Beautiful quilt and lovely dress. I would use gold or silver for the quilting but this is very much dependant on what you prefer.

blondeslave 11-15-2011 05:35 AM

Lovely quilt and the dress is adorable!

nabobw 11-15-2011 05:57 AM

quilt and dress are wonderful

SoozeeDoozee 11-15-2011 05:59 AM

Both are pretty. Quilting thread could be cream/tan/gold hue to match the stripe in the border and a very simple edge to edge quilting design or large stippling.

bisseau 11-15-2011 06:25 AM

Love both...!!

djrl 11-15-2011 06:28 AM

Your christmas quilt is gorgeous. Take your time with your quilting. The quilt is so lovely not to. The little christmas dress is adorable. It's nice to see young girls look like young girls. Your very versatile and talented.

dunster 11-15-2011 06:39 AM

Your Christmas quilt is beautiful, and that little dress is fabulous. Lucky little girl! I don't think the thread will show much on your quilt, but I might go with a gold poly to give it a little shine (to match the beautiful fabrics in the quilt).

lovingmama 11-15-2011 06:42 AM

quiltymom 11-15-2011 06:54 AM

weasier22 11-15-2011 07:11 AM

Love the fabrics in the Christmas quilt! Very nice job... The dress is darling! Really like how you used the netting. Thanks for sharing.

JudyMN 11-15-2011 07:38 AM

Your quilt is beautiful! I'd use a gold thread since the fabric has the metalic in it. I used that fabric last year for a wedding quilt and wish I had purchased much more of it. I just stitched in
the ditch so didn't worry about color. Beautiful! Do you remember where you got it?

mommessy 11-15-2011 07:45 AM

Great job! And I really like your fabrics..

SUZAG 11-15-2011 07:47 AM
