You are right, I believe we do live to far apart. Too bad. From the sounds of it we both could use the extra help. The kitten's name it Donnie and was born around the beginning of Nov. He is one of the runts. Maybe other people will volunteer now that they know we need them. hahahaha

Very nice. I think they all love them. Great gifts.

there is nothing better than to see someone you love wrapped up in one of your quilts. i feel like i am giving permanent hugs when i give someone a quilt that i have made especially for them.

I can't believe you've only been quilting for a year. You do good work!

cutebuns 01-18-2008 11:22 AM

I have only been quilting a short time but I have been sewing seriously for quiet a bit longer. I started sewing when I was a child and when I started having kids I started sewing all the time. I also do machine embroidery and have to years. The two go very well together. I have fun and I am a quick learner. I also like reading so I have picked up a lot that way. I have yet to take a course. I have been curious about taking one but not sure what level they would clasify me. I don't know that I could handle it from the start. If I can remember to I would like to do the next course that this site offers.

I'm wondering how much time you all spend every day working on quilting projects?

Tiffany 01-20-2008 08:09 AM

That is a great question for everyone sunflower! I'd love to hear how much time each person puts into quilting every day. I spend probably 2 hours a day on quilting, often more, sometimes less. I confess I should spend more but I am on this dratted computer playing around waaaaay more often then I probably should be.

I don't actually quilt everyday. I would like to but I do lots of other things as well. I am a stay at home mom so that gives me a little extra time. I focus pretty good when I am doing them, probably because for the most part I am running behind and the deadline is close. I can usually do a top in two days, three tops when I am focused. I actually did all three of my kids origional quilts in 5 days and that was when I was working and worked 3 of those evenings. The only thing I had done before was on set of embroidery done. I will have to take pictures of them. I haven't yet. I am very fast. Probably due to the amount of sewing I do. My mom is fast as well. I don't know if that is something you inherit or not. Probably helps that I do lots of things with my hands like crocheting and woodworking that I have really good fine motor skills and hand eye coordination. I did this dress before Christmas for my daughter mess dinner for cadets. She thinks she needs a new one every year. I don't mind for the most part as it only cost me about $40 compared to the hundreds I know some of them spent. On the tree in the back ground there are ornaments done on my embroidery machine. So I tend to multi task as well. While that machine is going I usually sew stuff. These days usually quilting. My husband suffers from PTSD so this is also my strss reliever. I don't know what I would have done without my sewing room. I do have a very limited attentions span and often get sidetracked.
