Christmas projects 2013
 

I *finally* learned how to piece a 5-point star- so, started making these 'Candle Mats'; they are about 14" across. I've made 10 of them so far. I am enjoying making these. :thumbup: then, here's a 'preview' of a holiday quilt I am working on...I like it so far although I have no idea what i'm going to do with it when it's done...

Love everything. The quilt is going to be wonderful & I'm amazed at how perfectly you cut those 72 degree wedges for the 5 point star (or is there a secret method!)

Your candle mats are beautiful!! Love the fabric. That quilt is awesome, I would find someplace to display it, every Christmas. Back of a couch, wall, Quilt rack, or just to snuggle under. I love getting all my Christmas wall hangings and Quilts out for the Holidays.

Love the mats. Wonder if you could make them into a quilt. I would love to have a quilt with those. I guess I could always make the mats and do applique. Anyway love them both.

the Star Candle Mats are featured in a magazine---" Quilter's World presents Quilted Christmas Traditions" Holiday 2013. picked it up at the grocery store a couple weeks ago. it is dated as November 2013- says to display until December 2, 2013-- so should still be available- Joann's has a good selection of quilting magazines you may be able to find It there if your local grocer doesn't carry 'Quilter's World'. ... and the person who said they would make a cool quilt....after I appliqued the star onto the background I cut the back behind the applique so I have a whole stack of whole stars to play with too. :)

The candle mats are great but the quilt is prettier, to me. Love your fabric selections. Is there a pattern or are you just naturally gifted to be able to draw like that?? I've got to have a pattern & still remain challenged.
