Hi,
Finally completed my French Roses quilt. I used fabrics that I hoped would compliment the style of raw edges. Two of the photos show it before it was washed, and one shows the effect after washing. My husband really likes the look after the wash. I'm sure it will look even better after additional washes. very pretty. are the roses fraying in the second wash? can you post a cloe er pic of the roses after washing.
|
Beautiful!! That quilt is really pretty!!
|
did you use any type of stabilizer to get your stitching done before washing? Or just place the fabrics and sew? I have done some raw-edge for my daughter, but usually use the Thermo-bond lite and sew to the edges... hers doesn't fray hardly at all (like her Hello Kitty stuff)... but this is really pretty!

I have the pattern to make French Roses too and haven't gotten around to it yet. But yours is an inspiration for me to start on it. It is very pretty came out great I really like it. Thanks for the after washing picture too I wondered how mine would look after I washed it and now I have an idea of how it turns out.

Hi,
Thank-you. I added a couple of close-up pics to reveal the detail of the fraying. |
Hi,
I didn't use any stabilizer, just sewed on each layer. Then quilted each layer so there is extra stitching to help with any excess fraying. :) |
Gorgeous quilt. Looks so comfy.
|
I like that!! Applique that I don't have to worry about bonding, turning, or perfect edges. And it's a 3d effect.
Gonna have to try that. |
I like that a lot. Very nice.
|
I prefer raw edge applique. love it.

Love it. I have seen the roses done with several fabrics in one, I like that you used 2 per rose.

I love your quilt. I did two quilts with the raw edge applique and they turn out beautiful. I really like how big the flowers are on your quilt.

pretty-another on my to do list!!!
|
I so love this quilt. My mother lives in a huge old fashion built log house. (Not a kit type one) This quilt would look perfect on her quilt rack by her fireplace. Someday I will have to get the guts up to try something like this for her. I better hurry..as she is 77 now. ha ha ha
|
Wow!
I have never seen anything like this before. It makes you want to reach out and touch it. |
I am impressed with the after-look. Have done my share of rag baby quilts, but that is, of course, a different process. Never thought about raw-edge applique. Great, one more addition to my bucket list. It is getting so heavy I can't lift it.
