Cottage Romance - Borders or no borders?

3 Attachment(s)
Sorry for such poor pictures but if you can use your imagination please. Should I border this quilt or just put a binding on and call it finished? I am really undecided and would really like your opinions.
This quilt top really is straight but I guess it is not pinned on the wall very well.

I would add a border, but I add borders 99% of the time. I think it's rare that a border doesn't enhance a quilt.

Barbm 07-14-2012 01:22 PM

I would make 2 borders- a thin green one and then the rose on in the 3rd pic. I love this fabric line!

kathy 07-14-2012 01:25 PM

I like it with a border best, lovely fabrics!

QuiltnNan 07-14-2012 01:25 PM

i like it just the way you have it so far

debquilts2 07-14-2012 01:26 PM

I think adding a little green boarder first then the other flower one would be beautiful

Tartan 07-14-2012 01:33 PM

I like the look of that fabric you have up for the border and use the green for the binding. Very pretty!

Floralfab 07-14-2012 01:34 PM

I also vote for a thinner green border then add the flowered fabric for the outer border. I love your fabrics.

Tweety2911 07-14-2012 01:44 PM

Yes for the border. Love the idea of a thin green border and then the border shown would tie the whole quilt together beautifully!

anothernancy 07-14-2012 01:46 PM

Beautiful fabrics!!! The border really adds to it. I vote for the small green border then the flower border. Very pretty!!!!

Jackie Spencer 07-14-2012 01:49 PM

Oh what a beautiful quilt!! Love your fabrics. I would deffinitly add at least one border. Would love to see a picture after this is quilted!!

Yes, add a thin green inner border, or a darkish pink. Then the rose print. You've done a great job, it is so pretty!

#1piecemaker 07-14-2012 01:51 PM

I think I'd just bind it and be done. Its beautiful by the way!!

katier825 07-14-2012 02:01 PM

Very pretty. If it were mine, I'd do a green inner border (the paisley if you have more - otherwise a marble) and the floral outer border. Then I'd bind with either the green or a rose. :)

red-warrior 07-14-2012 02:07 PM

I agree with the small green border and then your floral one......love your quilt any way you decide to do it though!!!

I second this opinion. Alternatively, use dark pink for the inner border.

nygal 07-14-2012 02:20 PM

I would add a thin border of the DEEPEST rose color then a wider border of the rose print! I always add borders to my quilts. I'd feel naked without them.:o

Helen S 07-14-2012 02:22 PM

I would do the darker green thin border, then a wider dark rose colored border, or just the opposite. It's very pretty!

kathdavis 07-14-2012 02:24 PM

I'd just bind and call it done. Love the calming colors.

sunfrogger88 07-14-2012 03:13 PM

i like that small green and then flower border. very romantic :)

Adding that wonderful floral border makes the quilt so soft and feminine. I love it. Very shabby schiek.
peace

Diane007 07-14-2012 03:38 PM

Hi
I vote thin green and larger floral

nativetexan 07-14-2012 03:57 PM

oh yes, borders please. it will be beautiful!!!

glennis 07-14-2012 04:02 PM

I think the thin green and then a wide rose border would make it pop. About a inch and 1/2 for the green and a 3 in rose.

I agree. The 2 borders would look great.

sunny72 07-14-2012 05:37 PM

I say...no border...but use green binding. It is very nice.

Happy Linda 07-14-2012 05:41 PM

Like the border.

bailey 07-14-2012 05:41 PM

Thank you everyone for your feedback. Borders win! Guess I better get at it. Think I will do a thin green border and then the pink print. I think I knew it needed a border but was just being lazy and in a hurry to get working on another one that is taking shape in my head. Guess it will have to stay there a little longer. Off to cut borders now.....

Mariposa 07-14-2012 05:56 PM

Yes, I vote for the border. Such pretty fabrics! A green binding would look good too! JMHO~

yonnikka 07-14-2012 06:05 PM

Do not decide until you spread it across your BED. Only when you see it<b>as it will be used</b>, can you make that decision.

Patti25314 07-14-2012 06:07 PM

I like the idea of a thin border but how about something in that dark pink color, then the wider border, finishing with a green binding.

carolaug 07-14-2012 06:09 PM

I like the idea doing the green border first since you havethe flower fabric in the quilt and then I would do the second border using the flower fabric...very pretty top!

barny 07-14-2012 06:10 PM

I would add a border or 2. Love the quilt. Love the colors.

That would be my suggestions, too, but then again... that's how I "end" most of my quilts. I love this quilt top... the fabrics are yummy! I love, love, love shabby chic & this just defines that look! I can't wait to see this beauty all done!

P. S: What pattern is this beautiful quilt made from? I love it!

Valerie Scherr 07-15-2012 12:58 AM

I agree a thin green border and than the flower border nice quilt.
