Awesome quilt. Love the pockets.

I could have sworn this quilt was about 25 pounds - that's what it felt like! The quilt actually weighs around 13 pounds, :). Still, if you ever need a "weighted" blanket, just make it out of old Levis! I think there were about 20 pairs, and many of the fronts were too shredded to use, but they were king-sized, so we got a lot of squares from each pair.

Not sacrificed, just repurposed when they were too worn out. I cut around most of the holey parts. I did include some to give the quilt character.

ps.Did you quilt this on a programmable long arm? I can’t imagine struggling with this on a long arm where you have to move the quilt instead of the machine.

Thanks! It measures 105 x 105, a nice king-sized quilt. And I did quilt it on a computerized longarm, with a less-dense motif so I didn't have to fight with too many bulky intersections or seams.

Thanks so much! At first they brought me only one shade of denim. He must have liked a certain brand! - but he wanted it to look like patchwork, so asked for a few dark pants, which they found at Goodwill. When I ran out of light squares, I flipped over the medium-toned squares to the back side, which gave enough contrast to create the design.

It only weighs 13 pounds, wayyyy less than I thought it was. I wonder about washing it too! He'll have to take it to a laundry mat with oversized washing machines.

Thank you so much! I sewed it in 3 columns so it was ok to manage putting together. Then quilted on the longarm, thank heaven for that! The wrangling came when I added the binding, then added pockets after it was quilted, especially that center pocket! I may or may not have broken a couple of needles...

Ahhh yes, re-purposed might be the better word!!
Though, in knowing how attached guys can be to their jeans ...
... I was thinking he might think of it as a sacrifice!!

I thought it was much heavier than it is! It only weighs 13 pounds! Felt like 40!

Amazing quilt from material I never would have considered. The guy has got to love it.
