MY daughter had me make her a diaper and wipe holder today.. check it out.. not sure how it will close yet.. velcro.. that you can sew through I guess.

cjomomma 05-27-2010 07:48 PM

Those are nice. I would have loved to have something like that when little man was a baby.

CAROLJ 05-27-2010 07:49 PM

Cool, it looks like tooled leather.

craftybear 05-27-2010 07:56 PM

great job, you should make and sell them!

Lori B. 05-27-2010 07:59 PM

Very Nice!

magnolia 05-27-2010 08:08 PM

This is very cool. Did you use a pattern to make it? Or design it on your own?

dkabasketlady 05-27-2010 08:32 PM

janice4 05-27-2010 08:34 PM

Thank you :)

Pam 05-28-2010 01:53 AM

Good job! I love that you did not rush out to the store for a pattern, well done.

quiltinghere 05-28-2010 02:28 AM

Wonderful!

Just like a small tissue holder - only larger - one side for the diaper and one side for the wipes.

sahm4605 05-28-2010 03:24 AM

magnants also work good. you have a tut for it? I am thinking about making one for myself.

dsb38327 05-28-2010 03:28 AM

Isn't it amazing what we can whip together. It takes a creative mind to sew. I like what you designed and I would put one to good use when I have my grandson. I think your daughter will enjoy it and be happy you made it for her.
Have a great day/Dorothy

MamaBear61 05-28-2010 04:11 AM

Great project, my daughter makes something similiar and gives them to new moms, great when you are running a quick erand and don't need the whole diaper bag.

CarrieAnne 05-28-2010 04:16 AM

Wow, that is really nice!

clem55 05-28-2010 05:03 AM

good idea and cute! I think I will make one for my great-niece. Just had a funny thought. If my bladder continues to get weaker, may have to make one for myself!LOL

littlehud 05-28-2010 06:14 AM

What a great idea. Everything all together.

I am not a pattern reader so even if I had one I can't seem to read to the end and make sense of it.. I have been forcing myself to read quilt patterns.. and you can see that doesn't work well either;). i am going to try some art quilts this summer I think.

janice4 05-28-2010 06:31 AM

Yep daughter liked it so much she wants another one ;)>>.. Will look for some pink and am still in the working it out stages.. so we'll see how it goes. This is the prototype.

gramqlts 05-28-2010 07:06 AM

Very cool idea.....even tho I am a grandma and not new mom, I have my grandbaby girl alot so I carry a diaper and ziploc bag of wipes in my purse all the time. Great idea, may fix one for my purse. Thanks for sharing. Good job!

Shibori 05-28-2010 08:12 AM

Really neat & nifty.
Funny how our girls come up with ideas & we moms try to create them.
Really love it Janice ;)

I have never made a Diaper and Wipe Holder but I do make facial tissue holders. They are made with double fabric with a slit in the middle after sewing and turning. With tissue sell for $1.00 without $.50.

mimee4 05-29-2010 05:40 AM

You have such a creative mind. Great job on the project.

cindygale 05-29-2010 06:43 AM

I would love to see them.. ;) can you PM me?

Bevanger 05-29-2010 07:48 AM

what a neat idea.

dljennings 05-29-2010 09:36 AM

i made a couple bibs & used the fabric clue to hold the velco on...worked great & still on after many washings...

just don't leave the velco clasped together when you do that... they need to be apart....

i had to throw out the first bib, cause i glued it together!

just showed it to ddil, she said "great, now that he's finally potty trained someone comes up with just what i needed!"

Hello Janice

Here are 2 pictures of the tissue holder.
Plus a picture of a squirrel looking up at a bird feeder. I call him "Stealer."

Here are 2 pictures of the Facial Tissue Holder. Plus one of my "Stealer"

To Make:

Cut a strip of fabric Appx 12 inches long, fold in half lengthwise, close the open end of the strip and one side, turn right side out. You will have a double strip Appx 6 inches long. Ford strip in the middle of the length of the strip, press for a crease, then bring each end of the strip up to the crease. You will need to pin each one so it won't slip. After this process is finished, take zig-zag across the unfinished end. Make sure both end of zig-zag are tied. Turn until zig-zag end is inside the holder. Finished, ready for tissue. If you make several strips while watching TV the night before, you can make many in 2 hours the next day.

To Make: Oops! Forgot to tell you the width of the strip. It is 6 inches wide. (1/2 inch allow for seams)

Would you be willing to share the dimensions and how you did it? This would be a great little tutorial.

I would .. but would have to put that together as I revised as I went along. today I need to make another one.. so perhaps I can actually write down what I do.
