I've quilted a few bargellos for customers - I usually try to divide the quilt up into different sections, then put various fills in each, or sometimes diagonal lines to highlight certain sections. Here's a photo of one bargello I did. You can see another example on my blog, scroll down to the end of the post - if you click the photo it will open a larger version. http://andicrafts.wordpress.com/2010...own-two-to-go/ This is gorgeous! I was looking at your blog the other day - I love your work! :-D |

Awesome job! No ideas on the quilting though.

Wow! Nice. Job

Mm nice. I do like the way the pattern flows out into the border, so it's floating yet not...
Love the pieced border strip, too, I've been debating with myself whether to use one in the pair of quilts I'm making for my parents at the moment... I think you've convinced me that yes! :D Re quilting, I love Andi's advice to create segments. So much easier on the shortarm! I'd tend to make some feathers first (or perhaps slightly more flamey, spiky shapes instead of the rounded hooks - because to me this quilt has a lot of fire!). For instance, feathers along the long blue X, with a multi-layered flame for each pink shape. Then I'd look afterwards how to fill in the other segments. Making it up as I go along again, lol... |
