This was from the pattern by Lockwood designs and is my first bargello. Not sure yet if it will also be my last! I had lots of strip sets left over so I used some of them in the border - an idea I got from a lady on here. I can't remember her name but she has a very bright and beautiful bargello as her avatar and used some leftovers from that in the border of another quilt she posted. :-D
Mine is 70" x 66". Now I need some ideas for the quilting - I don't want to meander all over it, I'd rather come up with something to enhance the pattern. Perhaps feathers in the red and blue sections? Not sure yet! Thanks to all those who encouraged me over on my Bargello WIP thread as well! :-D :-D :-D |
Oh my that's a stunning quilt

That is absolutely gorgeous! I like your thought of enhancing the design with the feathers in the quilting.

Beautiful - love the deep colors!

Ow, WOW!!! That is one awesome bargello. I love the colors you picked.

You can quilt soft lines following the flow of the design. I've done with all my bargellos. You just go diagonal across each square / rectangle following each color "line" . I used a free motion foot to keep the lines soft. Some areas you have to just follow the flow of the design rather than go square to square . I used monofilament thread so the quilting is more subtle but it really softens the design and looks great. I've done three like that. All were gifts or I'd attach a picture.
I guess it depends on what you like and how comfortable you are with quilting. It also depends on how much quilting you want. I tend to be a minimalist when it comes to a pattern like this. There's so much going on with color and movement already. LOVE your quilt. Wonderful work. |
Wow! Beautiful. I love all those rich colors in it. Looks like all batiks!
