Like everyone else, I like the first one better.

I like to swim against the tide - I prefer the 2nd one. The first one is very traditional, nothing wrong with that. But the second one, with your fabulous FMQ added would make a really elegant and more contemporary looking quilt. :)

I like the colored center blocks. The second picture, white center blocks, has too much white in the quilt
and not enough color.
