I love it! That being said, I totally am like you and tend to look at something and think, "Well, or Hmm..."...So I love the advice to let it sit a couple of days and then revisit it...This is going to sound "toony loony", but when I am trying to decide on something I will sometimes flip a coin...and whatever side comes up if my initial reaction is "Yay!" I go with it...if my initial reaction is "Boo, or best 2 of 3" I know how I felt deep down, too. And I mean my initial reaction, no second guessing! I know, sounds crazy, but it works for me...
Regards,
Kif

The blue-busy-border is taking away from those GORGEOUS blocks. I do love that fabric though but not on this quilt.

I think it is beautiful and worth all the work you did to make it.

Wow--what a gorgeous quilt! I love those blocks!! Congrats on a finish. I don't know anything about piping, but I'll steer clear. lol I'm glad you're not taking it off. But--if you find it annoying, remember, it'll hang off the bed and your DD will rarely see much of the top with the border like in pictures of it flat. Problem solved! ;-)

The border makes the blues in the stars pop out. I like it! I had a similar problem recently and decided to stick with my origional plan and am happy with the result.

I LOVE THE BLUE BORDER! It makes the blue in the stars pop brilliantly! If it were me, I would keep it this border. Yes, I think you should ask the opinion of your daughter. That may be the best thing to tip the decision either way. Beautiful quilt!!!

I agree with a few other folks that the border detracts from those WONDERFUL stars.

I hope you can find something less powerful.

Hi, I don't want to discourage your attempt at using piping.... that said, piping on a quilt is usually small, with a very thin cord in it. Susan Cleveland has a book and ruler out that are great.

If it were mine.... I would audition a small back border to replace the solid blue. If I had enough of the sashing fabric I would try that for the outer border. This would leave some room for curvy quilting that would balance the geometric pieced center. This is only what I would do... it's your quilt but you did ask for opinions

I like the skinny purple border...maybe do a darker solid grey or black for the larger border. Beautiful quilt

My first thought, before I read to the end of your question, this is a beautiful quilt! Leave the border alone and love it! Your daughter will love it.
