I don't have a clue! But, I'm sure there is someone out there that can tell us just exactly what this is and what its used for.

Boopers 07-20-2011 05:52 PM

I think it is a belt hanger for mens belts.

Linda Star 07-20-2011 05:56 PM

Interesting, but no clue.

Looks to me like what the dentist uses to match up your tooth color if you are having a bridge added to your teeth or a false tooth added?

A room full of sewing things. So I'm thinking it has to do with sewing somehow.

np3 07-20-2011 06:10 PM

Neat looking, whatever it is!

Summer Spice 07-20-2011 06:21 PM

Looks like one of a kind......

Crabby Patty 07-20-2011 06:30 PM

Don't have a clue but sure would like to know. I doubt that I'll ever run across one though.

Dandish 07-20-2011 06:33 PM

My guess would be some sort of fastener to use when you are braiding or tying or doing lacework of some sort. The metal hook goes around something to hold it in place and the pin/ball things hold the beginnings of your work/strings/threads/cords and you work out from there.

Just a guess. Really have no idea.

QuiltE 07-20-2011 06:36 PM

Can you please show us a pic from another angle ... to get a better look at the dangly-thingy-me-bops!!!

I tend to agree w/Dandish - I think I've seen something similar to this used in tatting, or making lace???? But w/my 'ole timers' no telling what I 'think' I remember

Where is crafty bear she always has good answers? I don't have a clue.

cindy4857 07-20-2011 10:32 PM

looks like a weight to me something you hang on knitting or crocheting to make it hang. also looks like a spark plug spacer checker thingy. do they tighten down the shaft towards the balls on the ends some kind of clip? Wild guess. but one things for sure I ain't got a clue.

Jammin' Jane 07-20-2011 10:33 PM

charismah 07-20-2011 10:34 PM

KandiKane 07-21-2011 12:20 AM

Haven't the foggyest, but does look like the shape of teeth

mary13 07-21-2011 03:21 AM

I think it is from a dentist office and they use it to find the color that matches your tooth.

so-sew 07-21-2011 03:23 AM

I can't believe with all our collective experience and wisdom, NONE of us have seen one of these before. This is a good one!

Yooper32 07-21-2011 03:30 AM

I know, I know...it is a Thingamabob. My mother always talked about a thingamabob and now I know what she was talking about.

yonnikka 07-21-2011 03:33 AM

Silk scarf hanger. Note how smooth the two white balls are, no snagging or tearing the silk. There's a tension between the balls, holding the rolled edge of the silk in place. You can hang a dozen or more in a small space; no folds. The uppermost open ring hangs alongside your coat hangers in your closet. (just a factoid from my Manhattan days; where some apartments had the shower in the kitchen over the floor drain and the toilet in the closet. For real. ;0)
